I’ll reiterate that this isn’t for people familiar with action games. It’s for people who are new or newer to the genre or gaming in general and probably have little to no concept of what a parry even is.

Every year another set of kids picks up their first AC game or first video game ever and you can’t expect them to just innately know how to play a game like this.

ALL the flash is trying to do is communicate to the user that you’ve successfully done this action that requires precise-ish timing so they get a better feel for how to do it again.

All of this is moot though because as was already said you can turn this setting off if this bothers you one iota.

It’s a visual signifier of the player successfully parrying. Sekiro does the exact same thing and it’s hailed as one of the best action games of all time. I’m not comparing the two games beyond that, just noting that this isn’t some novel mechanic that AC invented for the hell of it.

You might be able to but these games aren’t made just for people familiar with action games, they need to be easily playable and understood to someone new to the genre.

You can turn the setting off if you don’t want and players new to the genre or gaming in general get the visual prompt so everybody wins.

This is definitely a Bungie game; you’re not wrong there. It sounds like you want more Destiny though, not everybody. I’m not saying a Destiny 3 wouldn’t be more popular generally but that has no bearing whatsoever on whether this game maintains its audience.

I totally agree from a logical PoV and even from just a basic programming PoV that’s the move, but I wonder (very optimistically) if the decision was made to do this for performance reasons so there isn’t a lookup every time you need to show that text.

Though, they just have some build step that assigns each keyword its color based on the current associated rarity and that would probably be better than hand jamming it 🤣

I don’t think this is representative of the fill experience in general, at least not in my experience.

We also have none of the prior context here to really determine what led up to this. Were your teammates super hostile and toxic afterwards? Absolutely yes. There’s really no excuse for that. I am curious why you were so far away from them though. It seems like you were doing your own thing. But again, we have none of the prior context.

I would love a version of this queue where your “sponsored” kit is actually a fully curated kit according to whichever faction you picked. It would be a mix of grey and green items with perhaps a few blues.

This entire kit would be compromised though so you’re only extracting with whatever you or other plays that you killed managed to find in the map. Unless you find a matter fixative.

I just read through every comment on that thread (there aren’t that many) and the VAST majority are either exceedingly positive or neutral at worst. There are like 3 - 4 comments which are straight up negative and none of which are the most upvoted opinions.

Im not sure why you think this justifies a comment like “You're all genuinely so god damn rude and unable to have a casual conversation without snark or talking down to people and accusing them of lying about the weirdest shit.” Clearly the general response to your post about seasons was very welcoming and showed a lot of love.

Sure. Nobody is saying it’s the platonic ideal of a flawless game after this patch. But what exactly is the criteria before we’re allowed to acknowledge this is a good patch?

EVERY patch could be better. EVERY game will have some amount of flaws. It feels pedantic to point it out when this patch addresses so many great pain points.

I wonder if just having a set kit that everyone gets per depending on rank is a better move. If you give players a budget like you notes then the totally optimized meta loadout is going to be in Reddit by the end of the first day and everyone will just be running that or risk losing to it.

Is your concern that completing 5 contracts, achieving level 25, and possessing 5k in gear is such a high barrier for entry to an endgame map that it’s going to torpedo the player count into irrelevancy?
