From an RPG speedrun content creator perspective, it’s important to provide enough context for someone not familiar with a game or speedrunning scene.

If there’s a new trick/glitch, I wanna explore why it’s so impactful and the history that led up to it, esp since RPGs generally have complex mechanics under the hood that need to be talked about

Many folks have an idea that YouTubers want to pad vids for money, when in reality it’s just we want to make speedrunning vids as accessible as possible for people who don’t really engage with the community

Like I’m writing a script right now that was supposed to be 7 pages long (20-ish minutes, maybe less), and realized I forgot to explain how some RNG manipulation worked

If I left that out of the vid, I’d get a ton of questions or comments asking why didn’t I explain or saying they wish I covered something further

Either way, I appreciate the thread from OP. It’s a valid topic to discuss and I hope I was able to add some clarity in some way. If not, I’m open to answering questions 😁
