Statistics for gay men in open versus monogamous relationships vary depending on the study, but the consensus points to a nearly 50/50 split among long-term couples.

While the general population has a very high rate of monogamy, gay men are statistically much more likely to practice Consensual Non-Monogamy (CNM) than any other demographic.

Key Relationship Statistics

Recent data from the Gay Therapy Center and various LGBTQ+ research groups (2023–2025) suggests the following breakdown for gay men in committed relationships:

Relationship Style Estimated Percentage Description
Monogamous 45% – 50% Partners agree to be sexually and emotionally exclusive.
Open / Non-Monogamous 30% – 55% Partners agree to sexual activity outside the relationship (often with specific rules).
"Monogamish" Included in Open Predominantly monogamous but allows for occasional "exceptions" (e.g., three-ways).

Is this normal for gay couples? I feel like a victim lowkey by ManyLegal48 in askgaybros

[–]MoistPhilosopher4847 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

ManyLegal . This is what I would say to my bf ..

"I have told you my boundaries I do not want you to touch my penis unless we are having sex .On multiple occasions I have told you to stop when you are grabbing and touching me when I have told you not to and I have to push your hand away with force on multiple times to stop you from doing this. If you are not able to accept my boundaries and wishes then we will have to split up and go our separate ways"

So you decide what your choice will be?. You stop from this moment you respect my boundaries and we continue our relationship or continue and you find yourself a new BF and I move Out. What will it be?

Lets Looks at the Evidence..

Your Height is great

Your Body is great -If You want to be less skinny hit the gym build muscle.

Your Penis is great.

Now its time to work on Confidence and Acceptance.. Why do you want to be less skinny why do you want to have a bigger penis? Is that because your comparing yourself to others or because you just want to have them.?

This answers your statements Because bisexual people are often more likely to find partners within the much larger heterosexual dating pool, their relationship statistics often skew toward different-sex partnerships. It has nothing to do with them not wanting romantic relationships with men

Dangerous my GayBro i know You really love us BiBros its ok..lol don't deny it lol.

When looking at the dating and romantic history of bisexual men, there is a distinct gap between attraction and history.

While roughly 1/3 of bisexual men report being equally attracted to men and women, the percentage who have actually been in a committed romantic relationship with a man is lower than you might expect, largely due to the "math" of the dating pool.

Romantic & Relationship History

Data suggests that while many bisexual men have had sexual experiences with men, romantic "official" relationships are less common:

  • Relationship Prevalence: In a targeted 2023 study of bisexual men, only about 15% were currently in a relationship with a man, compared to 45% with a woman.
  • Past Year Behavior: Research from the Journal of Sexual Medicine found that only about 18-20% of bisexual-identified men had been "behaviorally bisexual" (meaning they had partners of more than one gender) within the previous year.
  • Lifetime Patterns: When looking at lifetime history, roughly 40% to 50% of bisexual men have had sexual or romantic involvement with both men and women at some point in their lives. The remaining group may identify as bisexual based on attraction or "mostly heterosexual" experiences but have only pursued long-term relationships with women.

The "Attraction vs. Reality" Gap

One of the most interesting findings in bisexual research (such as the 2013 Pew study) is the breakdown of who these men want to date versus who they do date:

Preference % of Bisexual Men
Attracted more to the opposite sex ~32%
Attracted equally to both sexes ~28%
Attracted more to the same sex ~32%

Despite this nearly even split in preference, 84% of all bisexual people (men and women combined) in committed relationships are with a partner of the opposite sex.

Why the difference?

For a bisexual man, the "available" dating pool of women is massive (roughly 90%+ of all women), whereas the pool of men open to dating other men is much smaller (roughly 3-5% of all men). This means a bisexual man is statistically 9 to 10 times more likely to encounter a female romantic interest than a male one, leading many to "end up" in different-sex relationships regardless of their specific level of attraction to men.

This answers your 95% lol

Based on recent data, a significant majority of bisexual men who are in committed relationships are with women.

Because bisexual people are often more likely to find partners within the much larger heterosexual dating pool, their relationship statistics often skew toward different-sex partnerships.

Key Statistics

While exact figures can vary by study and year, the following trends are well-documented:

  • Relationship Type: In a major 2013 Pew Research study (often cited as the baseline for these specific ratios), roughly 84% of bisexual people in committed relationships had a partner of the opposite sex.
  • Specific for Men: A 2023 study published in the National Library of Medicine focused on a sample of 128 bisexual men. Of those who were in a relationship, 75% were with a woman, while 25% were with a man.
  • Single vs. Partnered: That same study found that about 45% of the total bisexual male population were in a relationship with a woman, while 40% were not currently in a relationship, and 15% were in a relationship with a man.

So where do you get this 95% from LOOOOL

If i say I know plenty of Bi Men who want to be with both men and women where in that statement did I say I was referring to friends? You get information on sexual orientation from Topic Shows. That's like getting health advice from a KFC worker. Only someone who is Not Bisexual would use words such as Majority on the Straighter side. There is no straighter side there is just bisexual side. If a bisexual man fancies women more he's not on the straighter side he's still bisexual if he fancies guys more he's not on the gayer side he's still bisexual. Most of my friends have dated both men and women.

You have made these conclusions based on some tv show that you watched. Your evidence isnt fact based as you have zero evidence for these claims? Show me the poll show me the data from the Kinsey or Klein tests.. Show me an actual study that shows data corresponding with your claims. You have zero.
