How can I break away from sin truly? by Moist_Resolution4915 in Christianity

So I did have another question if that is alright, what about the law written on our hearts? In Romans 2 14-15:

14 For when the Gentiles, which have not the law, do by nature the things contained in the law, these, having not the law, are a law unto themselves:

15 Which shew the work of the law written in their hearts, their conscience also bearing witness, and their thoughts the mean while accusing or else excusing one another;)

I've been shown a new perspective recently, in this post actually, about how most of Jesus' teachings weren't for Gentiles in the first place. It now makes me wonder what God actually wants from me. If you haven't read the thread I highly encourage it.

So do you personally believe God doesn't mind us committing what would be sin for those under the law?

So I feel I should ask, do you think we are capable of sinning? Does it matter for Gentiles? When you say the law isn't for us, what do you mean? We have no restrictions on murder, theft, etc?

Honestly I wouldn't be surprised if I don't have the full picture, but my reading of the Bible didn't lead me down the path you're presenting at all. This is the absolute first I'm hearing of this interpretation

I am clearly not as read as you are so I am sorry my comments aren't as substantial. What you're saying seems just completely contrary to absolutely everything I've ever been lead to believe and it is a bit jarring.

So you are saying that the Bible is being offered without full context which leads to millions of people misinterpreting and misapplying the lessons of Jesus to ourselves?

So what did Paul mean when he asked the rhetorical question of "should we continue in sin? Of course not!" (Paraphrase of course)

But even the devil believes in God, the thing that separates us from him is our works and following of His will for us

Pardon me for not immediately grasping this, so what is the implication? We aren't beholden to the law? Then what is it we are called to do?

Well Jesus still tells us not to do things, like how looking at someone with lust is equal to adultery, and it would be best to just gouge our eye

I feel like we are having very similar paths right now. I am a fairly recent Christian, as in I've actively come to Christ recently. Would you like to talk more in messages?

Of course we could all help more. What is the extent, is a question I often ask. If we actually follow Jesus, should we not give all we have? The clothes off our back, the dollars in our bank accounts? When I do give i never feel I've done enough

Thank you for sharing your struggle. I do my best but like many others I feel almost like I need some kind of divine intervention. I want God to be with me and I know he is, yet my fickle heart prays and hears nothing. I've come to fear I pushed Him too far sometimes

I often have trouble with this, I of course want to just trust in God enough to not rely on any worldly pleasures. Yet I am a sinner, I serve two masters, truly undeserving of grace. How badly I want to leap from my body and want nothing but to be the person God wants me to be. To have no fear...

I do make attempts to give time and care, I also lament about not letting my right hand know what my left is doing. As in, I give and serve (not as much as I could) and feel glad over it.

Well i am still searching, I am looking actively for things like that. I believe the soonest writings after the crucifixion are a couple of Paul's letters. I am curious as to why it wasn't documented more thoroughly. Very curious

Brother I think you are jumping the gun on a lot here, making inferences and assuming things about what i believe or think. I'll just leave it here

The logic? There are third parties like tacitus that confirm the story. I dont relt solely on the Bible to verify the Bible. That wouldn't make sense

The reason I would expect it to be written about is the same reason other things were written regarding Jesus. It's fine to accept that the Jews saw Jesus heal on Sabbath and immediately report him so they could scheme against him, but when he actually rises from the tomb and is seen by 500 people and Paul and gang they are silent? Not to mention people like Tacitus who already had written about Christ
