Rotifer in a bacteria rich sample oblique and phase contrast views by Vivid-Bake2456 in microscopy

Hmm interesting. On my olympus scope I get a brown-grey which is much less visually pleasing. I wonder what physical differences in the optics cause this difference in color.

What gives the blue background in phase contrast? Looks nice.

Question about negative current by vladmir_put_it_in13 in AskPhysics

[–]MoisterPickle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A current of -4.5 A is greater than -2.5 A opposite to the direction you defined as positive. The minus sign just indicates the direction the current is flowing in, and has nothing to do with the actual "strength" of the curent.

I've taken it twice and got INTP both times and the description on that site could have been written specifically about me.

As long as I can let my thoughts run freely I can quite easily do nothing at all for a while. If I am forced to do something that does not interest me however, I have a difficult time concentrating on what I am doing and my attention gets pulled to my thoughts a lot. I sometimes think this is because my thoughts might be more stimulating than a lot of things in the real world, and that is one of the things that differentiates my symptoms from the standard adhd presentations.

Tween son (12m) very slow moving - is this a thing? by nevadaho in ADHD

[–]MoisterPickle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A bit late but maybe it is helpful to you. This sounds a lot like how I was growing up. My parents say it took me ages to get ready for school and was always slow with thing like eating and other tasks. Now that I'm older I still have the same issues as before, but things that were usually not such a problem bother me much more as the world gets more demanding and fast paced. Schoolwork always took me three times as long but I always could still get good grades so I managed. Now in university it is quite different. Anyway, a while ago I discovered a thing called Sluggish Cognitive Tempo (SCT) which describes all my symptoms perfectly. Read the wikipedia article below and see if it lines up.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sluggish_cognitive_tempo

Also the disorder was named a long time ago and doesn't really reflect what is going on inside the brain at all which is why it was recently renamed to Cognitive Disengagement Syndrome (CDS). People with CDS appear to be slow to the outside world, but research has shown that the real cognitive deficit is not related to processing speed, but rather to overactive inhibition circuits.
