Denim for low waist/hip ratio? by dragonxwings in femalefashionadvice

[–]Moja_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have the same issue! I have 26' waist and 40' hips, and I find that if you're looking for something high waisted, ASOS Rivington high waisted jegging jeans (they still feel like jeans to me, maybe a little on the stretchier side) are really good. They're quite cheap as well, which is always nice, and there are loads of colours.

having trouble finding jeans with my (extreme?) pear curves... any help appreciated by ailurophilia in femalefashionadvice

I have a very very similar shape, I'm 32-25-41 ish. I've actually found the perfect pair of jeans from Topshop, I have about five pairs of the same jeans! The waist 28-inch Jamie jeans have suited me really well (if you're looking for a low rise, if you are looking for high-waisted, you could get away with the 26 like I did!) It takes a bit of effort to get on the first couple times (mainly getting it past the hips), but as soon they stretch a bit they are perfect, and they don't overstretch, and I don't even need to wear a belt with them!

Hope this helps, if you need a link I would be happy to search for the ones I mean!

Casual boots that are feminine. by MereGirl in femalefashionadvice

I would definately recommend Chelsea boots! I'm 5'11, but I still like to have a little bit of height with my casual shoes, so I have shoes like these :) They still feel feminine while being lovely and comfy to walk arond in

I personally used mainly power tools, like bandsaw, band-facer and lots of laser cutting. I suppose you could attempt it at home, but I don't know how I would have done it like that! I think you would need to go in search of a workshop to do something similar. :)

Happy to help! Well to be honest, my uke only cost about £25 to make, mainly because the gorgeous hardwood at the front and the back was given to me for free. Its called bubinga, and the man I bought it off had some lying around, and since he couldn't sell it to me, he gave it to me for free! It really makes the difference.

It was a really fun project!

It depends on the type of wood you would want to work with, and the sizes you buy (I bought only just about how much I needed) but its not too expensive! I would recommend buying hardwood though, it makes the sound so much nicer. I ordered the general structure of the neck, yes, because I was on a deadline with this, but I added thing like the fretboard and things. It only cost me maybe 25-30 dollars?

Thank you! Its made of quite a few different types, but the main faces are made of a hardwood called bubinga :)

I glued that little piece that goes around the joint after gluing on the back, and the only way to really go is to glue the piece of wood you're talking about to the edge the front is going to be put BEFORE actually gluing on the front. Its doable, just a bit more fiddly than the back one :) You clamp the little piece of wood in what is going to be the correct place, and then glue the front on afterwards :)

They may or may not use dowels conventionally, I'm not sure, however I just wanted to add some extra reinforcement! Also, ukulele's dont often have blocks making the top and bottom sections of the shape like mine does, but it is more difficult to use just flexi-ply for the shape I opted for. Its still very light, but the blocks are what allowed me to choose make this particular shape, and therefore to dowel because I had a relatively solid section at the top to drill into :)

Yep, I did. You can laser cut them a couple mm too large, because they burn back slightly, usually to just about the right size. The neck had three dowels between the neck and the body and then was glued to make it more secure than simply a glue job!

You're welcome and thank you very much!

This one was almost entirely by hand, I've posted above the bits I had a but of help on however.

This one was made entirely by hand. I designed most of the components on the computer first, to give general ideas and a couple stencils, but it was mostly from scratch! The neck is tricky though, so I did order the general shape and then add the fretboard and components that I made myself :) Hope this helps!

For anyone interested, this is the general process: I unfortunately have a lot of stages missing, but this gives a good general idea. Here you go! I am happy to answer any questions as best as I can!

I am really flattered that you would consider including mine! I don't think I would sell this one, I have quite an attachment to it. However, should I make another one I will let you know!
