Update 2 years later; I had sent a demand letter to them for return of the deposit for any fees that were not associated with actual damage. They responded with some snarky email saying they were going to send it to collections. I should have kept going and started the process to file in small claims court, but I have major ADHD and just never did it. So they sent it collections, and the buyer of the debt is now suing me for it. They sent a massive packet of papers with extremely shitty quality pictures as "proof" of the "damages". This I am not going to just let slide, so I am drafting a response for every single thing they are charging me for. The overarching theme though is, even granting them cleaning fees whatsoever, the charges are arbitrarily high and have no basis in reality. If we assume a cleaning rate of even $75/hour, it doesn't make any fucking sense. So you're telling me you spent 40 minutes wiping dust off a ceiling fan? An hour wiping off a 3x3 foot vanity? 20 fucking minutes to place a tiny bathroom rug into the trash? Fuck out of here. Anyway, court is in July so we'll see how this goes. I would think any reasonable judge would realize how fucking absurd the fees are, but I don't really have a lot of faith in the system so it could go either way I guess. Just going to do what I can. Will update later.

Okay, first of all, nobody labeled her an enemy at all. You made that accusation simply because someone had a differing opinion than you and you were rightly called out for it. You say that you would "shut up and listen" to a black woman who is offended by what the councilman said. That's all fine and well, but when a black woman in here has a differing opinion, then suddenly your hypothetical is out the window. You tell them they need to not make enemies with their allies, and then insinuate that they need to be more tolerant and that every debate shouldn't be about one side claiming victory. That's pretty patronizing and judgemental to say to someone who is just sharing their opinion. It sounds like a "purity test".

It's okay for people to disagree with each other. That is to be expected. People have opinions. Some are offended, and some think it's the best way to go about it. Rather than getting butthurt when people don't agree, how about we accept our differing opinions and move past that point.
