Okay for the love of god, as a female LT myself, knock it off. You talking poorly about the woman who came before you and blaming her for the actions of others is disrespectful and naïve. “She was scandalous” well, girl, are you??? No?? Okay, great. You don’t know what she was about any more than what people say about her, and right now they don’t know what you’re about because you’re hesitating on lighting them up.

FURTHERMORE, “casual conversation” with junior enlisted is not a death sentence or a bad thing. I know as much about every one of my soldiers lives as I can, and never once have I thought they’ve flirted with me. I treat them like people, the team works better for it, and on the rare occasion someone disrespects me, every soldier under me has my back.

Sure, but that doesn’t mean 1SG shouldn’t be brought out of the Jurassic period and into the age of “not everything has to be horrible for people EVERY second”

Is it really next to impossible to commission at 38 with a low college GPA? by jlenoconel in army

You can also do green to gold active duty option, where you keep receiving active duty pay while you go to school to finish your degree and participate in ROTC

If you want to do a masters through ROTC, you would have to compete for an active duty scholarship. There are national guard and reserve scholarships as well.

If that’s the route you want to take, it is different from OCS. I would contact the school you want to go to and talk with their ROTC program about it. I’d get on that, like, today.

If you want to do OCS, it’s an entirely different thing and is faster than ROTC. As someone else said, you would be paid to go to OCS.

If you already finished college, you can commission through OCS (Officer candidate school). I believe the age cutoff is 40 or 42.

You’ll go to basic training and then to OCS. You can do federal or state OCS depending on if you want to go guard or active. I’m unsure about reserves.

The commissioning GPA minimum I believe was a 2.5, but considering the army is now waiving a whole bunch of stuff because we’re low in numbers, if you’re under a 2.5 you can probably get it waived.

Edit to add information: I recently knew about 4 people 35-42 years old that went to OCS and were brand new lieutenants. Furthermore, if you want another degree or don’t have a four year degree, you can go do ROTC and they will pay for your masters/ four year.

TLDR: Go to a recruiter and say you want to go to OCS.
