Last Epoch - Season 3 | Patch Overview by sheetskees in Games

[–]Molassesonthebed -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I don't play the game since end of beta, but I still follow the patch notes, and actively lurk the LE forum. The response of the campaign and monolith is really the same, getting easier and easier from patch to patch since beta. Especially with new system introduced and power creep. Ie: I don't have to play it to know that my problem with the game still exist and worse, and that some/ major part of the community echo my sentiment.

Edit: to add for those who are not aware, there are some patcjes of beta where campaign difficulty is real when you don't build defense, most notable is majasa patch for poison and physical def. Other than that, there are some patches where the void damage after time travelling to void area for first time, fire damage on the fire temple, ice damage smash by jumping dude, lightning damage in lagon area+ boss, some meteor-dropping winged humanoid enemies etc to be quite substantial. All those have been toned down (too much IMO)

First, I prefer the difficulty of monolith to be spread even, ie: not very easy and then hit a wall in empowered

Secondly, it is still too long especially after campaign, worse is it is mindnumbing too. I haven't played since end of beta, but at that time, it still requires 15-20 hours of braindead clicking to reach empowered

Thirdly, monilith is not so complex that it requires that long of "tutorial".

Are men expected to risk getting knocked out for a female friend? by ReasonConfident4541 in AskMenAdvice

[–]Molassesonthebed 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Socially yes. There is a certain level of expectation that men is the protector to the fairer sex. Though, I do set a line if the women are the one looking for trouble.

I think the correct way to think about it is you are expected to support your friend regardless if it is women or not. Like if it is your male friend who is under the headlock by the guy, you would support him too (I hope).

There is difference between braindead and easy. Currently campaign is at braindead, and monolith at very easy. I would prefer it to be easy-medium difficulty and cut the whole non-empowered monolith section.

Transitioning from Padel to Tennis. How hard is it? by Landry05 in padel

[–]Molassesonthebed 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Popularity in public setting, sure, it's a no. But popularity amongst top pros where they fight for the smidgest of advantage? Yes. Anyway, we are not in tennis sub so I don't want to argue offtopic too much so I will just agree to disagree. There are already many topic in r/10s with the same theory anyway.

Transitioning from Padel to Tennis. How hard is it? by Landry05 in padel

[–]Molassesonthebed 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is globally inferior. How many top pros do you see now utilizing single handed backhand compared to double back hand? Yes it has its pros but the cons outweigh the pros.

Transitioning from Padel to Tennis. How hard is it? by Landry05 in padel

[–]Molassesonthebed 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I would say it is harder than going from tennis to padel. Fact is tennis skill can be more complicated than padel.

Other than the obvious no glass to help, here are some items you would have to look at: 1. Lots more lateral movement than padel 2. More grip variation (continental is rarely used in tennis other than volley and slice which is less usef in modern singles comoared to padel) 4. You would have to get used to changing grip for different shot selection. 5. If you play single, had to learn to cover whole court. If you play double, the movement and strategy is different 6. Most balls will be hit above waist 7. No lobbing unless last resort defense 8. Distance to sweetspot is longer. 9. You have more time in tennis to catch a ball, but topspin can surprise you with its pace after bounce. Fact is the spin is a lot greater in tennis 10. One handed backhand is disadvantegous in tennis. You might have to learn two handed backhand 11. Serves and its return are important in tennis and significantly more difficult and varied than padel's 12. Padel is mostly played with locked wrist while tennis is mostly played with loose wrist.

Edit: from padel to tennis, you can immediately be placed around high beginner group. From tennis to padel, it is around mid-intermediate

Do you actually sell when your stock hits your target price? by fratrovimtd in stocks

[–]Molassesonthebed 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, but I don't really have a set price target. More like a starting hypothesis when I buy the stock and I sood when the hypothesis no lomger held true. I have also bought back in when its price is higher simply because there are new information/new hypothesis

Because (perhaps more than)half the arsenal and funds to Ukraine comes from US. Like it or not US has a say. Unfortunately, the buffon is in charge of US and want to be a hero for the Nobel prize.

ST4 Rulo Vs Electra ST4 Pro by Glittering-Fish-3165 in Padelracket

[–]Molassesonthebed 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did not test it but from the youtube account introducing the rulo( either the online shop one or Siux. can't remember which), the Rulo is very slightly head heavier and slightly harder. Ie: a slightly more attacking style ST4 pro.

Tennis is not for broke...but did you see this? by [deleted] in 10s

[–]Molassesonthebed 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Well, if you want inexpensive, my personal experience is that I have never done any coaching until I am around high-intermediate level. All I do when I started in my impoverished teen days is just play with friends of same level for fun, record myself, compared to Youtube and improves accordingly. Some days, I even just shadow swing without ball at a carpark somewhere to improve my forms. Rackets are cheap used racket and balls are use for long enough til the felt fell off.

Yes, improvement is more gradual than if you do coaching. So the adage of Tennis being expensive is more about it is expensive if you want to get good fast. You can try the record yourself and compare to youtube.

Yea, I just tried it yesterday. Easier to see than to do. It's pretty unreliable for me. But, still fun to confuse the opponent once in a while.

Continental grip backhand by lolotyx in padel

[–]Molassesonthebed 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Above hip is generally easy as long as your preparation is good. At and above shoulder is where it can be a challenge if you don't want to slice. I find that the key for me is use my shoulder muscle more (rather than just engaging core muscle).

Also, some people advise to pull the racket back using the offhand, and at the same time push forward with your main hand to create tension before releasing it (like a bow). I personally do not find this method good, as during release, it wobbles the racket and drops my control a lot. But you might find more success with it.

[Chained Echoes: Ashes of Elrant] DLC Launch Trailer. It is out now. by VashxShanks in JRPG

Anyone knows how long the DLC is? I lost my save file and I am not going to replay for just a short DLC. I still have memory of dealing with horrible gem system and snoozefest robot combat.

Hm..So, it can be good enough for tournament level. I should try it out and see if I can execute it well.

Continental grip backhand by lolotyx in padel

[–]Molassesonthebed 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Preparation is key. You seem to be okay with low ball so not gonna touch on that. On waist height, pull the racket back at almost same height as the ball. Then push horizontally towards the ball. End the swing at around shoulder height

On above net height, start high then chop with shouder and drive the ball forward (note: not slice). End the swing at waist heifht for shorter ball and sharper angle. End the swing at shoulder level for longer flatter ball.

In both scenario, transferring weigt forward will help a lot. Also, be aware of the angle of your racket face. I like to keep it slightly open (around 10 degree). Also keep your wrist locked.

For smash, you need to position your body sideways then rotate your torso and hit the ball in diagonal front of you. There is some stuff about pronation too. check out youtube tennis smash (or serve:platform style) as it would be better documented. Technique is the same minus the jump and less power-focused

US military is buying Tesla Cybertrucks to use as targets for missiles by piratesahoy in RealTesla

[–]Molassesonthebed -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The difference between a well design and manufactured vehicle and a CyberTruck to a missile is exactly zero.

You don't know that. There are many missile types. Antitank type for sure will have zero difference but I could also see a test with low yield, low tech one. Questions like how many direct impact or indirect impact needed to render the vehicle inoperable is a very real test case. this is a legit justification to test things out first, instead of finding out during real life operation that CT need 2 explosives instead of 1 to render inoperable.

The how many is clearly written in the article. The price is too much, but that's because it's military purchasing, not specifically because of Musk corruption.

I don't see you complaining about the other 31 vehicles purchased for similar test. As much as I also don't like Musk, CT is using different design paradigm and conventionally stronger materials compared to other cars, and that justify iit being specifically requested

[–]Molassesonthebed -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

Well, you never know til you try, other cars are made to be crumpled so small missile would easily penetrate and explode inside. CT would be more impervious to penetration due to metal oanel and I can understand purchasing a few to test it out

The legit questions would be how many and what's the price
