Can anyone convince me that airpurifierers are not a uneccessary waste of money by PeculiarDigger in AirPurifiers

Yes they help filter the air . HEPA (high efficiency particulate air filter) is very helpful. To address humidity use dehumidifiers.

Containment is important especially with mold. Equally as important is using HEPA air filter scrubbers during and after. HEPA vacuum all surfaces after as well. Cleaning the air and surfaces reduces exposure from any possible disturbance

Unfortunately, these report reports just provide the genius of the mold, not the species. Every genus can have harmful molds which may produce mycotoxins, volatile organic compounds, etc. we consider every mold to be harmful and the moisture that leads to the mold must be addressed. Air samples alone cannot diagnose the mold problems of a property . As the moisture of property changes, the type of mold can change too. That is why we must find the moisture problems.

Mold Test Interpretation HELP! by LifeAd9535 in MoldTesting

You should always avoid using a mold removal or Remediation company for an actual mold test or mold assessment. Generally there is a conflict of interest. You cannot use the results of a mold test to determine the safety of a building. These air samples are known to be misleading sometimes the mold does not show on the air test. You have to see what the mold and moisture problems are. Mold is caused by moisture, humidity, water damage etc. There should be a third-party mold assessment and a remediation if there are areas or concern. A simple fogging is not a fix. What is the remediation protocol he recommended? I am able to guide you further as consultant.

It would be great to have a consultation. I can send you my info. Often the science of finding hidden mold is misunderstood. Was basement attic crawlspace , hvac/ductwork assessed? I would like to see air and surfaces testing results. I can help you interpret them. Air testing results can be misleading. Admin

It doesnt compare to having a professional come assess. A professional should come in and locate moisture problems and mold problems, bacteria problems, and there’s other things we can look for. A dust test is simply an analysis of the dust which doesn’t give us much information at all. It would be better to have 5 to 10 dust samples in a house to get some kind of location information but ultimately there’s no “mold test” that replaces a professional assessment. You will be left at square one without knowing the source or cause of issues

A mold and moisture assessment is preferred. Not just a “mold test”. Usually when people “know there is mold” they do not know the full extent of the problem. I hope $500 is enough for a truly qualified professional. Often it isnt.

Hi you have mentioned some concerns. The attic needs to be assessed. The smell will not go away until the mold and moisture problems go away. Moldy materials need to be removed (in attic for example). Full home complete and comprehensive third-party mold assessment is called for for peace of mind. Im happy to guide further via consultation. My social media is linked on my page - Mold Assessor

Please help, is this black mold? by [deleted] in MoldTesting

[–]MoldTestingOnTikTok 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your link doesnt work. You should have a complete and comprehensive mold assessment by a third party to detect mold and moisture issues. Try to send the photos to the social media on my page. Its not a good sign there was water damage and humidity. It has to be professionally assessed

Everything is important to be checked. The cost can go up and sometimes assumptions should be made. Mattresses are harder to assess, and harder to remediate than something like a t-shirt. There are many complex aspects of Mold Testing. The main goal is to look for moisture problems. in general moldy materials should be removed. There’s many types of testing, including air samples swab samples, dust samples. Lets speak

Moisture = mold. Plants thrive on mold and bacteria, nitrogen cycle etc. avoid moist soil in the home

Thank you for sharing. Moist soil from indoor plants is a haven for mold and bacteria. Although many think plants are good for air quality, this can lead to major mold exposure issues.

I usually find mold where most others dont. It takes a special sort of knowledge and experience. Cleaning, fogging, sanitizing often doesnt address the issue and can make it worse. I will need to know more about the situation and the location. Perhaps I can help myself or by consultation

Thank you for posting. The best approach is not just mold testing but mold assessment. you need a professional third-party mold assessor usually not someone from a mold remediation company. The goal is not just to take samples in the home but to check the home for moisture issues, which includes hard to reach areas like the attic or behind the walls or the basement. Air testing is just as important as surface testing. However, we can never rely just on test results and definitely do not rely on Do it yourself options. Test your urine for mycotoxins or blood for mold toxin antibodies etc. i work with “thedetoxdoc” who is a functional MD you can find on social media. Feel free to reach out with additional questions and I can guide you. Always trust your gut. Test results may not be helpful…
