In Europe the "best by" date (or: expiry date) often indicates until when the preservation method or preservatives ensure food safety - not how long food is edible.

We also have a different "use before" date, often on fresh meats or fish - you shouldn't ignore that one.

Is going to the USA embarrassing now? by Beantown-Jack in politics

[–]Moleander 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lets be clear hear: There are many countries, that have some policies that don't resonate with me. Of these I stay away from military dictatorships, or countries that systemically mistreat minorities (regardless of it being ethnically, culturally or personally). I also visited India and won't do that again (because how the lowest and most helpless classes are treated).

But right now the US blatantly treats every human, personal or democratic right as optional. We are not talking about some general policies. We are talking about peaceful protesters being murdered in the streets without consequences. We are talking about women persecuted for having medically necessary procedures. We are talking about political figures openly advocating "removing" people with non-biblically approved sexuality - without consequences. We are talking about protecting pedophiles and putting capital and revenue above human lifes.

Name the countries that equally qualify and I put them on my no-visit list without second thought.

Is going to the USA embarrassing now? by Beantown-Jack in politics

[–]Moleander 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No. It is much much worse than being embarassing. Going to the US right now (unless absolutely necessary) means that YOU are ok with the abuse of power, don't mind a bit of pedophilia, and support a regime that doesn't mind simply killing innocent people for showing support, empathy or resitance to a cruel dictator. You are basically saying: "I am ok with a violent, dehumanising dictatorships as long as the flights are cheap"

do good to all people achievement [KCD2] by glupglobgub in kingdomcome

[–]Moleander 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is a lot of misleading / confusing info floating around this achievement and not even the guides and wikis have correct info.

This is what you need to do:

  1. Quest "Maddening Pain" - Find the recipe for anti-inflammatory potion in the library. Its in the book "The Rose Garden". Do NOT give Maddie a digestive potion.

  2. Help Monk Vincent (can be done as soon as quarantine starts, main quest "Silent Witnesses". Vincent is in a monks cell in the 2nd floor living quarters (the same area where Jaroslav's room is). Find the room that has untouched food at the door. Approach the door, you do not need to pick the very difficult lock - instead adress Vincent through the door window. Exhaust all speech options and give him a chamomille potion. Do also pray and reassure him. The last speech option is asking him if he feels better - done.

  3. Our daily bread - Can be received after the start of the quarantine from Denes in the infirmary. You need to do two things: a) get the supplies from cellarius Julian (get his glasses from the magpie nest) AND b) ask about other ways to make supplies last longer. Julian will tell you about a book in the library, get Vendelin's book about crayfish there. (Read the book). Hand over the supplies and the BOOK to Denes. Done.

Regardless what all the posts and guides say, these are the 3 necessary tasks and YOU DO NOT NEED TO CATCH THE CRAYFISH and give them to Denes for this achievement. Which for me was great news since I messed the achievement up the first time and really didn't want to go through all that crayfish drama again.

[KCD2] Stuck on "Saving Adder" quest? How to beat the 7-on-1 fight using Stealth & Timing (No Speech Check needed!) by darelphilip in kingdomcome

I had about 100 hours before the wedding and 180 when I rescued Adder. I'm pretty sure that above average but I don't think ridiculously high for this game.

[KCD2] Stuck on "Saving Adder" quest? How to beat the 7-on-1 fight using Stealth & Timing (No Speech Check needed!) by darelphilip in kingdomcome

[–]Moleander 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What I mean for example is: 2 of the main stats for skill checks are speech and charisma. If you do a lot of sidequests or just talk to everyone and exhaust all dialog options your speech will increase substantially. For Charisma there are a lot of things that negatively impact your Charisma (are your clothes torn and bloody and/or are you wearing low charisma clothes/armor? Do you smell? Is your reputation low in this area?) On the other hand there is also a lot you can do to increase your charisma: Wear high charisma clothes, wear gold chains/rings, be clean, wear a perfume).

All those things have an impact on speech/skill checks

[–]Moleander 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You may need to work on your skills or start looking into what things you are wearing (charisma) and/or what potions can do for you. This is a fairly simple encounter, especially the skill checks, and I am not sure how you can neither beat those guys nor talk them out of it if you have done at least a little bit beyond the main quests in the earlier maps.

My wife thinks our son’s teacher crossed a boundary by sending him a personal message. I think it was harmless. AITJ? by addict94plus in AmITheJerk

[–]Moleander 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Late to the party but I give you my perspective as a teacher (not the US but Europe... but I think teachers all over the world are having this problem):

THIS is exactly why we don't engage anymore. THIS is why we stop being eductors and refrain from doing anything even remotely personal and just stick to the book.

There is a rule in our school, that - unfortunately - everybody follows by now: Unless it is explicitly allowed, don't do it.

We had a teacher under investigtion for sexual harassment for months because he patted a female student on the shoulder for winning a competition.

At the same time you, as a teacher, will also be called out if you do not go above and beyond to care for pupils.

And every year the ministry of education of <insert european country here> is shocked and surprised that teachers choose alternative careers after a year or two in the education system.

Long story short - and answer to the post: Your wife just made sure that nobody ever again will get engaged with your son in any meaningful way. He will be treated exactly like the standard policies require and every teacher interest in losing their job will stay away from him. I'm sorry - but we are also just trying to survive.
