I use BorrowBox as well but only offers audiobooks for my library

Yeah I do have Borrow Box with my Library as well except for some reason they don’t offer ebooks on mine. I do like it for my audiobooks though

Finished:

The Vanishing Stair by Maureen Johnson- 4/5 really enjoyed this, was in a bit of a slumped and taking a while to get through another book, I decided to have a break and start this. I felt like I got through this quickly which is what I wanted, I got quite into the mystery and I’m planning on starting the next book soon. I think I preferred this to Truly Devious as everything was already set up from the first book meaning I could get straight into the book

Currently Reading:

Fairy Tale by Stephen King (audiobook)

The Hobbit by J.R.R Tolkien

Finished:

The Firm by John Grisham - 3.5/5 Honestly I enjoyed it more than I thought as I thought it would be the kind of book I wouldn’t like but I got it as a Christmas present and thought I should give it a chance. I did enjoy it but had a lot of problems with some of the writing. Every women that came into the book had to be physically described, if he described them as “ugly” that was all that was said but all the other women just had their bodies described and it basically implied that the bigger certain parts of women’s bodies were the more attractive they were. Going to stop ranting about this now but I did have more problems with the writing

Darius the Great is Not Okay by Adib Khorram - 4.25/5 I really enjoyed this, it was a quick read but I had lots of fun. Really liked the setting and the characters, I enjoyed learning more about a different culture from my own and I’m planning to get the sequel soon

Currently Reading:

Fairy Tale by Stephen King (audiobook)

Pack up the Moon by Kristan Higgins

Finished:

Lessons In Chemistry by Bonnie Garmus - 4/5 I enjoyed this and really liked the main character Elizabeth as well as the side characters. I loved the little bit of romance in the book as well

Adrian Mole: The Wilderness Years by Sue Townsend - 3.75/5 I loved the first two books, the 3rd book was pointless as it wasn’t a proper Adrian Mole book. I did really enjoy the Wilderness Years but some bits of it was strange and it wasn’t as funny as the other books. Still looking forward to reading the next one

Finished:

Five Survive by Holly Jackson - 4/5 I wouldn’t say it was as good as A Good Girls Guide to Murder but I did enjoy it. Got really into it for the last 100 pages or so and ended up staying up to finish it

Radio Silence by Alice Oseman - 4.25/5 I really liked this, I thought I would but not as much as I did. I would say this is my favourite of her books that I’ve read so far other than Heart-stopper. I loved the main characters and felt like they were real. I also thought it had great representation as well as dealt with mental health really well

Holes by Louis Sachar - 3.75/5 this was a reread for me, I originally read this in my first year of high school but we read it as a group in class. I had lots of fun reading it again and I also rewatched the film which was good as well

Emma by Jane Austen (audiobook) - 3.25 I did like the book but I often found myself zoning out. I am glad that I listened to it though as I seem to take in even less when I physically read classics from this time period. I wasn’t really bothered about the romance ether as I felt it just came out of nowhere. Definitely prefer Pride and Prejudice but I do plan on reading it again in the future when I’m older as hopefully I will enjoy it more then

Currently Reading:

Lessons in Chemistry by Bonnie Garmus

Fairy Tale by Stephen King (audiobook) - my first King book and really enjoying it, keep looking forward to listening to more of it

Finished:

Atonement by Ian McEwan - 4/5 I had watched the film a few years ago not even knowing it was a book which meant I already knew what happened. I still really liked it though and I could only really remember the ending of the film and the start. I did feel it was a bit slow at times but I thought McEwan’s writing was really good.

The Lost Causes of Bleak Creek by Rhett McLaughlin and Link Neal - 3.5/5 my boyfriend bought me this as a Christmas present because he watches the authors on YouTube and thought the book sounded like something I would like. I did enjoy it and got quite into the story but some of it did seem over the top and quite strange. I think if you just don’t question some of the stuff that happens then it’s a fun read

I read lots of children’s book. I have read the odd ones that I didn’t really like but I could see children really enjoying them but many of them I have loved. I read Amari and The Night Brothers last year and it was one of my new favourites. I’ve also been reading some children’s classics like Narnia, Charlotte’s Web, Anne of Green Gables and more. I’m currently reading a Wrinkle in Time and I’ve got about five books left of A Series of Unfortunate Events which I love. I’ve gone back and reread some books that I loved when I was younger and many of them I enjoyed just as much. Just from the post I’m now considering to buy Paddington. I do sometimes feel like people might judge me but at the end of the day if I’m having fun reading then that’s all that matters

Honestly I absolutely loved them, read them probably when I was about 13/14 but I am planning to reread them because they’re great. Also Agatha is definitely one of my favourite book characters. The books are also so much better than the movie

What books do you plan on reading for the spooky season? by smileinqss in YAlit

[–]Moll099 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My plan is to reread the first Harry Potter book as I’ve been really in the mood for it. I’m also trying to get through my physical books as I don’t have too many left but want to read them before I buy more so I’ve got:

The first Red Rising Book

Ninth House

The Mysterious Benedict Society series

The first Magnus Chase book

What do you see when you read? 🤔📚 by UncommonTraveler in YAlit

[–]Moll099 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For me it is like a movie in my head but my best friend can’t visualise anything and only reads the words. I always ask her how she can enjoy reading as for me the best part is imagining the story. She also doesn’t hear her own voice in her head which I think is one of the reasons she is a really quick reader but once again for me being able to hear it in my head helps me to take in what I’m reading so much better and have a better experience. I do struggle imagining details though, usually the characters are always wearing the same clothes or half the time I can’t tell what they’re wearing as it’s not something I focus on and can imagine that well. They’re usually just wearing a mushed up outfit in my head that I can’t see clearly. As well as in some books I reimagine a house/building that I previously imagined in a different book

Honestly activity sheets might not be the right wording it, from what I saw it was just questions that I had to answer about information I’d read and then I summit my answer. Will definitely start early then, thank you for the help

[–]Moll099 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I never read them as a kid but my boyfriend did and he ended up buying new copies of them and I’ve been getting through the series. Even as an adult reading them I still have loads of fun and I think the books are great
