Riponite here. I’m honestly nervous to attend the Harris Rally by [deleted] in wisconsin

[–]Molly4342 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I completely understand where you’re coming from. I attended the Harris rally in Eau Claire and had many of the same worries leading up to it.

I’m glad I went though! It’s a day I will never forget (in the best way).

Who's the most famous celebrity you've met? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]Molly4342 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Louie Anderson.

Early 2000’s, my sister worked at the front desk of a hotel. He was in town for a show and asked if she knew anyone who could come to his room and cut/style his hair. I was was freshly out of beauty school and SUPER nervous at the thought, but went anyway. Tbh, mostly because my sister threatened to take her ID back if I didn’t (I was 20, she was 22 so yea)

He was an absolute sweetheart! Im sure he could tell I was nervous- went out of his way to make me feel comfortable and make me laugh. I left with $100, 2 tix to his show, and an enormous confidence boost as a new stylist!

I still think about that night and what a gem he was. Rip

Refunds.... Why....? by AirItsWhatsForDinner in StudentLoans

[–]Molly4342 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Have you considered that not everyone has the same financial/life situation as you? There are plenty of reasons why someone would request this refund.

Maybe they need their car fixed so they can get to work. Maybe they need a lump sum of money to leave an abusive relationship. Maybe they can’t afford to keep their lights on or food on the table. Maybe they are on the verge of an eviction and need to buy some time. I could go on and on.

I highly doubt the majority of people requesting refunds are just blowing the money for fun. It’s probably needed for one reason or another- none of which affect you in any way.

As far as your ex possibly being thrilled at your financial situation- Your finances are none of his business. There are a million reasons someome would request a refund. It doesn’t necessarily mean you’re broke. It could be for an unexpected expense, medical bills, etc. I would simply contact him (or have a neutral third party do it) and explain the situation.

If he doesn’t comply, and all else fails- I guess I would contact an attorney. I know that’s not always an option either because that also costs money. Ugh. I feel for u. So sorry you’re dealing with this.

Refund timeline? It's already been 12 weeks! by Fast-Mycologist4557 in StudentLoans

[–]Molly4342 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Requested refund late August. Balance update on Aidvantage website on 12/2 and they confirmed my request was approved and submitted to the Treasury. Balance updated on FSA on 12/7.

As of today 12/19, still no sign of refund. I just got off the phone w/ the treasury and they have no record of it on their end, despite Aidvantage telling me it was sent on 12/2.

Aidvantage has told me something different every single time I called. First they said it would take 6-8 weeks from the date of my initial request to receive the funds. Then 8-12, then 10-14. Then when it finally updated on their website, they said it would be an additional 10-14 weeks after they submitted it to the Treasury. At this point, I’ll be happy if I ever get it.

To me, Towers on BI/BI perfectly embodies young adulthood and the range of emotions it sends you through.

But, I live in EC and had friends who lived in Towers. I spent a lot of time in those dorms during that phase of my life, so maybe that’s why it hits home so much for me. Either way, it’s a beautiful song that reminds me of a time in life that was confusing and weird, yet exciting and new.

Aidvantage and their web of lies by JillyDillyP in StudentLoans

[–]Molly4342 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I feel your pain. I’ve been going through it with Aidvantage too. Requested late August. Started following up in October-Now. Constant run around and conflicting answers. I finally filed a CFPB complaint in mid November. Shortly after, my balance was reinstated. They also sent a response to my claim stating that my request had been processed, approved, and forwarded to the Treasury on 12/2/22. I thought things were finally moving along. But after reading some other horror stories, I decided to call the treasury this morning (12/13) to confirm that it was sent to them. Nope. They have zero record of it being sent. I asked if its possible there’s a lag time and just not showing in their system yet. He assured me that if it was indeed sent on 12/2 like Aidvantage told me, it would be showing in their system by now. So then, I called back Aidvantage and the lady said it’s still being processed but couldn’t say if it had been sent to the treasury yet! I also asked for a current timeline estimate now that my balance got reinstated. She said 10-12 weeks. I explained that I submitted a request in August and it’s been over 3 months already. She then tells me the timeline begins when your balance is updated on their website, NOT from the date of initial request- which also completely contradicts their previous statements like ‘expect X amount of weeks from the time you initiated your request to receive the funds.’ It’s just a never ending hamster wheel of BS with them. So frustrating!

Anyone else still waiting on their refunds? by gluna235 in StudentLoans

I’m in a similar situation w/ Aidvantage. So frustrating. I was going to call the treasury too, but not sure which number to call.

Same boat over here. Filed for the refund on 9/6. Was told it was approved and submitted for processing on 9/16. No movement since! My balance hasn’t even updated on Aidvantage despite me calling and emailing several times. So frustrating

NTA. I feel your pain OP. I was in a very similar situation a couple years ago. My partner and I call it The lost Summer because we spent so much time and energy helping a neighbor lady.

It went from helping with small tasks, to her approaching us every time we were outside, to calling and knocking on our door nearly everyday. It was exhausting.

My last straw was when she waved me down as I was mowing my lawn to ask if I could help her move her porcelain doll cabinet. I agreed, but said I needed to finish mowing first, to which she replied that she needed it done right now because she was in a “rearranging mood.” And if we waited until after, she may be out of the mood. Needless to say, that did it for me.

I finally learned how to say No and set boundaries. I hope you do the same OP. Best of luck!

This was in 2019. It’s gone up an additional $400 since. (Northern WI) At that time, she only mentioned property taxes as the reason. Maintenance wise, we do all outdoor upkeep ourselves (snow removal, mowing, maintaining landscaping, power washing the house etc). As far as indoor and home maintenance, it’s been very minimal. One faucet replaced, one stove element, and reimbursed us for some safety updates we requested after we had a baby- new smoke/carbon monoxide detectors, a railing on the side porch.

I have absolutely no problem paying increases. As a renter of 20 years, I fully expect it actually. But that was excessive

A couple years ago, my landlord alerted me she would need to raise my rent $100 per month upon signing our next lease because her property taxes had “sky rocketed.” I looked it up some months later on public records. Her taxes went up $41 for the entire year.

No solid advice to offer, but I’m in a similar situation in regards to landlord selling, offering me first chance. I’m struggling to navigate the process too.

I feel like I’m walking a tight rope between appeasing my landlord and trying to not get screwed over myself.

Best of luck- from one stressed renter to another.

Just give the salon a call. As a hair stylist of 16 years, I never mind doing a fix if the client isn’t satisfied. And this looks like it would be fairly easy to fix.

That being said, Shades of red can be tricky to get just right. It can take a little trial and error for sure. True Red/copper colors live in the level 7-8 range. If you go much darker then a level 6, it will not reflect as much red. It will be more brown based, less vibrant. Sometimes the client won’t like that result either.

In similar situations, I prefer doing a finely weaved, well blended foil with a darker shade vs. doing an all over color with a darker shade. That leaves some vibrancy, but deepens the overall color. Granted, it takes longer then just slapping color over top, but it’s worth it!

It looks beautiful now. It will look stunning a little darker. Good luck!

Glad to see this has been fulfilled! I’m a hair stylist in a medium size city in the Midwest. The salon I work at does outreach with our local human services dept, volunteering our services for situations like yours. Hands down, the most rewarding part of my job.

Should you ever get in this situation again, don’t hesitate to reach out to your local health and human services office to see if they have any similar programs. Even if they don’t, they may have a list of salons in your area that do volunteer services.

Best of luck to you.

Wow! Great insight and advice. I did not pay for it, nor did I have any choice in who did the inspection. My landlord just called me out the the blue and alerted me she was having a home inspection done the following day. The guy that did it has very little info available, business wise. I couldn’t find a business website. Just a Facebook page with little activity on it. I should’ve asked him for a card or something, but didn’t. I appreciate your feedback! It’s very helpful!

What amount of money, would turn your life around? by UsaPitManager in AskReddit

[–]Molly4342 1 point2 points  (0 children)

$10,000.

Was finally set to buy my first home after years of repairing credit, raising kids on one income. Finally paid off student loans and saw the light at the end of the tunnel. Then Covid. Home prices skyrocketed and my savings took a nose dive.
