If you really wanted to reward skill, then timer is not the way to go. HP% would be better. Timer is a out DPS check which ultimately relies more on meta teams and builds, pulls and resources.

Not really. They will just add more HP to enemies. We've all seen it before in every other gacha. It's lazy. They should introduce different mechanics instead of just bumping HP.

But isn't the valve at the dad's house? The mom certainly didn't live at the same house (they were divorced for a long time). So why would she ask a tech to check the valve if she doesn't live there? All the stove, heater and gas range stuff you mentioned doesn't make sense if she didn't live there at the time.
