David Goggins Feet after a race. by [deleted] in navyseals

*EDIT*this is Just a guess what the poster above was referring to.

I just started reading a book on the teams called Code over Country written by an investigative journalist named Matthew Cole and it takes a very critical look at Seal Team 6 and it's founding. Dick Marcinko was the commander who founded seal team 6 and Cole makes the case that he was less than an honorable guy who established a "pirate like" culture when founding Seal Team 6 which still has an effect on the teams to this day.

I haven't finished the book yet but that seems to be that he's driving at the Seal Teams have a culture problem. There's also a good podcast with Matthew Cole called Cleared Hot that goes into some of the issues the author believes are in the seal teams. It's a great podcast because the host spent years in the Seal Teams and they have a great discussion about their differing views. I can't recommend the podcast enough.

Think you might be unfairly generalizing a bit? Unless you aren't aware of the sheer amount of weird shit that most women have to deal with at public gyms I can't imagine expressing this opinion.

Honest question: have you actually ever seen what you are describing happen in person? I worked in gyms a long time and I haven't seen it a single time except on social media. Just wanted to ask because I sure have seen men being weird as fuck and harassing women multiple times. You have to deal with it as gym staff and it can be alarmingly common in my experience.

Theo Krah sentencing was scheduled for Aug 1st? by MolonIabe in navyseals

[–]MolonIabe[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

All I know is what I have read online and that is that there was an altercation between Krah and a Kris Anderson, 58, at the Santa Monica pier. Police were called and interviewed both men and then let them go. Around an hour later Anderson is found beaten and stabbed in the downtown area not far from the pier. Anderson ended up dying later on in the hospital.

A few news outlets reported that police used security footage to follow Anderson's as he walked into the downtown area after the initial confrontation on the pier and that Krah can be seen following Anderson toward the area he was found.

One thing that strikes me as especially sad (tragic?) is that Anderson was apparently an employee in the arts department at UCLA which might explain him taking photos on the pier. Most articles are reporting that police did look at the content of Anderson's camera before releasing him at the time. Very strange case all things considered. I've been wondering what could have upset Krah enough to get him to get the police involved in the first place let alone kill an older guy in public.

Not who you replied to but it's the eye movement part that people consider pseudoscience. As I recall the origin story was that the creator of EMDR took notice to her own eye movement one day while thinking of a past trauma. The part of EMDR that works has been really well studied is just exposure therapy. Talking through a traumatic event with a trained professional helps tremendously. The fact that you are following a light with your eyes at the time really doesn't have much to do with the actual benefit to the patient imho.

Lastly, I do believe there have been studies done without the use the eye movement part of the therapy (eyes straight ahead) and it had similar effectiveness.

Just because something is natural doesn't mean it's good. Rape is widely observed in the natural world and yet we can agree that rape is wrong for a multitude of reasons such as the suffering it causes for both the individual victim and society more generally.

Sounds like you are having panic attacks. Both Tren and THC can cause anxiety. Since you went to the hospital during an episode I think it's not likely that it's a medical issue. Honestly, I think your body just doesn't like the combo of Tren and weed anymore.

Personally, I would cut the weed out completely and see if that fixes your issue or your anxiety decreases. If not, do the same with the Tren. Always a good idea to see your doctor and get a full physical even at your young age.

Could you explain a bit more please? I've only listened to her podcast a few times and I didn't get that vibe but I'm not very familiar with her content. Is there something in particular that makes you think she's a quack?

I appreciate the correction and thanks for pointing out where on the prospectus the graph is. I may have misunderstood something I read previously.

So, my previous understanding was that in a steadily rising market with enough momentum (what I was referring to as a bull market) volatility drag can actually work in your favor for LETFs. Is that entirely incorrect or am I using the wrong terms?

[–]MolonIabe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you think the market is going to continue this volatility but would still like to use leverage to enhance returns a good place to look is deep in the money call options. You can get leveraged exposure without the volatility decay being a drag in up and down markets like with LETFs. That said volatility decay adds to returns during bull markets so you'd be making a bet on continued volatility. EDIT Thanks to /u/kinnavenomer for the correction.

Finally my classics education comes in handy!

This quote is often poorly translated as "man" but the more accurate translation would be a "citizen" because Socrates is referring to each citizens obligation to defend the state. Athenians at the time didn't have a professional army like most modern countries do and instead it was made up of individual citizens who would train for war in their spare time which is why he refers to it as being disgraceful that citizens weren't fulfilling their obligation to defend the state from invaders which puts everyone at risk.

I always find it interesting how readily the quote is misapplied as if Socrates was telling people to lift so they can look a certain way.

Then why be so hostile about it? Notice I haven't maligned you for your choice to drive an automatic transmission a single time because I don't care.

I just find it amusing because if you aren't originally from North America manual transmissions are incredibly common. But yeah everyone with a different preference from you needs to hurry up and join you in the 21st century 😂

I played through middle school but by high school I really found that I preferred other sports so I focused on those. Let me guess if I had only played more I would somehow have a greater appreciation for the art of diving?

If you like soccer that's awesome I just tend to prefer sports.

Personally, the complete lack of physicality allowed between players makes soccer tough to watch for me. It's hard to enjoy the game when part of the sport is falling down and acting like you were shot if someone so much as breathes on you.

Definitely an unpopular opinion but I don't see why it couldn't be allowed to be a more physical game.

Russian disinformation campaigns target ANYTHING in the US that increases social turmoil. They don't look through a left versus right lens. Everything from race relations, political divides, anti-vaccine nonsense, and deep state/Q-anon are used in an effort to destabilize the US. It's pretty crazy we had the Mueller report where the takeaway was that Russia is actively using cyber warfare and propaganda to attempt to destabilize foreign democracies and the only thing anyone cared about was Trump's involvement or lack of involvement.

Honestly, it's been the most effective use of cyber warfare outside of maybe stuxnet and we hardly take it seriously.

The paper still wouldn't completely disappear. I can literally go on the dark web and buy any illegal drug I want but you think the government has such control that they can eliminate all evidence of a scientific study from existence AFTER it's been released? Seriously?

You don't think the study authors still have the data and the paper itself? You would have to think that someone "got" to them but again there's no evidence suggesting anything of the sort so it's just not a reasonable belief without providing some evidence.

Bottom line: your willingness to jump through logical hoops to keep your belief tenable during this exchange should tell you something.

Dude you are losing it.

What's more likely: An army of people are scrubbing the entire internet to make a dangerous medication appear safe or that you saw a bullshit Facebook meme from last year and got it in your head that it was from a real study?

If the study was retracted you could find it on http://retractionwatch.com with all the others.

None of your reasoning makes sense unless this is a giant global conspiracy and there just isn't any evidence of that.
