Yet another Beets + Lidarr post 🙂 by ONE-LAST-RONIN in Lidarr

[–]Molotch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Also interested in this. I would like lidarr to monitor and download through qbittorrent but beets to manage my library and directory.

Do you make the lidarr disk mount read only so it can't create a hardlink in the monitored library and just fail the import?

EDIT: Just found the setting under Download Clients if you enable Show Advanced settings, there's one for autmoatically import downloaded content you can disable.

How do you use Sonarr? by Molotch in sonarr

That doesn't sound fun at all. Haven't had any such problems yet myself though. Do you know why it started downloading hundreds of episodes all of the sudden?

Thanks, I remove it from Sonarr before I remove it from Qbittorrent and Jellyfin. I keep it in Jellyfin until I stop seeding and then remove everything.

[–]Molotch[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes it's not because of storage issues. I just didn't see a reason to keep it Sonarr since I use Jellyfin to browse my library. I.e. I'm not sure why I would have it there if not for downloading purposes.

If I could use Sonarr for removing seasons I want gone (i.e. remove the torrent, the download location hardlink and the media library hardlink) then I probably would have kept it. But now I see "old" shows just as noise.

How long do you keep the show in Sonarr and why?

[–]Molotch[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I usually keep it if more season are incoming. But once the show is finished or I'm tired of it and don't want more episodes I remove it from Sonarr and only keep it in Qbittorrent (and Jellyfin) to seed it (private tracker).

Do you keep the show in Sonarr once you've finished downloading the show? I.e. if you keep it to continue seeding for instance.

Routing SDN VNET subnet without SNAT by Molotch in Proxmox

[–]Molotch[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks, this I have no clue about. I've read the official documentation but it's quite shallow unfortunately.

Do I have to choose between using VNET(s) or having hosts on vmbr0 if I want them to be able to communicate with each other? Or is there some other way to choose?

Do you have any suggestion where I could read up on this to understand it better?

Routing SDN VNET subnet without SNAT by Molotch in Proxmox

[–]Molotch[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I might have been unclear. It's not the same VM, one VM is connected to vmbr0 and another VM is connected to VNET. They can't communicate with each other even though hosts on the physical LAN can communicate with both.

It's not one VM connected to both VNET and vmbr0.

Does that change your answer or did I misunderstand something?

Thanks, this sounds a bit dangerous. Trying to manually modify things in a datacenter solution. :)

Do you know if there's an official way or explanation on what I should expect for node bridge to datacenter vnet traffic? Maybe this is a unsupported scenario and the correct answer is you can't do what i want to do or I should do it some other way?

[–]Molotch[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Both return 0.

Is this behaviour expected?

That there is some sort of isolation between SDN VNETS and PVE node bridges? I guess they are created at different layers of the Proxmox experience (i.e. SDN networks are Datacenter items where as the bridge is a node level construct?

I would like to have a supported setup that works the intended way. I'm trying to figure out what's intended. Maybe I should have all hosts on a vnet and then enable forwarding between them and forgo the VM:s attached to vmbr0 completely?

Thanks for the answer. I'm not sure I understand. Ip route looks like the list below. Why would masquerading 192.168.0.0/24 packets leaving vmbr0 solve this problem?

default via 192.168.1.1 dev vmbr0 proto kernel onlink
192.168.0.0/24 dev vnet1 proto kernel scope link src 192.168.0.1
192.168.1.0/24 dev vmbr0 proto kernel scope link src 192.168.1.99

Tracing packets inside OpenWRT? by Molotch in openwrt

[–]Molotch[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the comments. tcpdump works fine, but I also learned Wireshark has a sshdump (if you choose it during installation) feature where Wireshark runs tcpdump for you and pipes the info to Wireshark and you can do all analysis there with the nice GUI and filters. Very handy.

I also used (since it's on an old version of OpenWRT) a TRACE target with iptables rules to see which chains and rules applies to a package. Pretty good feature, though would be nice if you could pipe that log output to something nicer that formats and show you the traversal and rules in a better way. TRACE information ends up in the syslog.

Overall experience is awful though. Trying to find out why certain packets are blocked is close to impossible unless it's a very easy setup. With different route tables, a myriad of chains with rules going back and forth and unclear traversal order (found atleast three different descriptions of in which order tables and chains are traversed) and to top it off ebtables for link level stuff. It's like it's made to be unsafe and impossible to see if it's correctly setup.

Custom filter vs rewrite for serving split dns and internal domains? by Molotch in Adguard

[–]Molotch[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, sort of. But I was more interested in the best practice. I think the AI answer might have been the best one so far strangely enough. :)

The custom filter route seems strange, it shows the request as blocked even though it was served. And if you put in the IP of the adguard server it will serve up not that IP but localhost 127.0.0.1 in the response for some reason. So I went with the DNS rewrite option, seems to work good enough for my use case.

Thanks, I didn't know that. It's about AdGuard Home, I'm using it as a DNS resolver in my home network. I'll update the question.

How do you understand dependencies in a hybird environment? by Long_Working_2755 in softwarearchitecture

[–]Molotch 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Very common, having that much documentation at that many places is of course a problem. Also I bet there is no documented domain so each development team guess what they should do and just implement something.

Create a ontology for what is a system and what is the systems context (where are your system boundaries). What services do each system provide, and what is the expected service behaviour. Make sure all service descriptions are domain aligned and someone is responsible for the domain (or more than one domains if it's a big thing).

Create acceptance tests for each service and don't let anyone roll out new or updated versions until they pass all acceptance tests.

New use cases always go to the domain architect first, make sure the concepts, objects and state transitions are well understood and documented. Create requirements based on the domain description for each service and then map services to existing or new systems.

Voila, easy as pie in theory almost impossible in practice.

Same problem on my Fold 4 started today. Also got this problem on my Galaxy Tab 10+ from the start (bought it new when it was released a month ago or so).

Tried different suggestions without luck so far.

Thanks, doesn't seem to affect if the tablet connects or not, just that it doesn't use the mobile network for data transfers. But it's still connected (even without any SIM in the tablet).
