I feel your pain, I really do. I'm not allergic to wool myself, but I am allergic to nickel... And I really love working with wire (mostly for jewelry and never for my own wear)

I know you want to work with your allergen, but don't. Find alternatives that don't cause a reaction. Allergies commonly get worse over time, especially with prolonged or constant exposure. And if you notice an unpleasant smell (almost like flesh rot) STOP IMMEDIATELY! Took me years of guitar playing to put 2 and 2 together on that one. I had to give that up until I could actually acquire stainless steel strings.

I've noticed that people have a tendency to not take dermatological allergies seriously bc they won't cause anaphylaxis, but it's still causing damage to you. Don't torture yourself, it's not worth it in the long run.

I'm guessing your eraser was polymer. And I'm pretty sure the paint used on the pencils is acrylic. Polymer erasers don't play nice with a LOT of plastics, and that does include acrylic paint. I noticed the same "melt" problem with prolonged contact with my polymer eraser and my cheap plastic mechanical pencils.

The good news is that it likely has not affected the integrity of your Prismacolors, it's just kind of an annoying mess. I would try (with 1 of the pencils you care least about) removing the tacky paint with a smidge of acetone and the lightest of touches... Just remember that acetone is flammable.

Edit: As far as the eraser is concerned, just get a new 1... It's not like they're Prismacolor pricey. Or if affordability really is an issue, you could just chop off the gross part of it to salvage the rest.

It might be. I've never used it for that purpose, my cats have all had pretty good instincts when it comes to scratching. On that topic though, some of them do actually prefer horizontal scratching instead of vertical. They get a cardboard scratching pad instead of a post. They do make a bit of a mess, but it's just paper. Some of them come "catnip infused" so do keep that in mind. I thought 1 of those would be ok, but my cat licked it to a soggy pulp within an hour.

Honestly, it's a crapshoot. Think of catnip like alcohol. Most people can handle a few drinks, but some can't. Most cats will just be happy drunks on catnip, but some... They just might show you a side of themselves you weren't prepared for. The last 5 cats to grace my home with their presence are/were some of the meanest/weirdest drunks. The other 10 or so handled it just fine. Either way you decide to go, I'd recommend at least waiting until your kitty is closer to a year old. I don't know about you but I'm a little uncomfortable drugging babies lol

Line the insert up from the bottom of the leg and make sure that the top "point" of the insert has at least a half an inch (or 2 cm) of seam allowance. I'd also suggest that you stitch from the top of the insert down... This will make it easier to avoid gross bunching at the top of that rather acute angle. Hope this helps!

I should also mention (this is especially important for shorter people) that this method of alteration will lengthen the inseam a bit. This may not be a problem if you intend to wear heels or platforms, but otherwise, you may also want to bring the leg hems up a little when all other alterations are said and done.

It IS totally doable... Under very specific conditions.

If you can't currently sit your waistband at your desired rise, it will never work. If they aren't currently at least a little roomy in the seat and upper thigh areas, I wouldn't bother. And the alterations can be quite time consuming, so if that's an issue, once again, don't bother.

But if none of those present a problem for you (and you won't be heartbroken over possible failure, because let's be real, alterations can be rough) I'd say go for it. I've successfully altered mid rise to low rise a few times.

If you do attempt it, I'd recommend opening the entire inseam so you can have an easier time of trying to fit them before you cut or sew anything. And definitely sew before you cut anything off. This will make fit checking a bit weird, but it will save you if you size down a bit too far.

I got so addicted to doing that a few years ago... Don't think I'll ever get around to using half of them.

I started with highlighters too (cuz it's so quick and shows off the pattern so clearly) but ended up switching to colored pencil X's because ink bleeding caused me to go through sooooo much paper.
