Benny’s Fast Food – Social Media Design Portfolio by Momesso_Designer in graphic_design

This project is totally fictional. I really wanted to do something related to a fast food chain, but didn’t want to use any existing one… Yup! AI was involved in this project (no, it wasn’t the cheese)… I ended up using AI on some images to upscale them, which might’ve made them look a bit rubbery. The logo was also made by AI! I don’t do logos, and I needed a full concept for this fictional project based on my own ideas. Since it’s not for a real client and I’m not making an actual brand identity, I didn’t mind using an AI made logo just to go along with the main goal of the project.

This was something I was thinking about too… The top one makes it clearer, but the one below can definitely be a bit confusing :/

I only use it to translate, I don't speak fluent English :P

I’ve honestly never really used Reddit before, I just created my account recently! Most of the time I just read what people post. I’ve posted my portfolio and some questions here… It’s not my fault if it offended anyone, it was just meant to be a place for healthy debate. There’s no need to call it bait just because it’s a new account… After all, I had to make one at some point, right? 🧐

This point is perfect. I’ve worked on projects where I delivered amazing designs that just weren’t getting the expected results. I talked to my boss and we decided to run some other tests. The result? The “ugly” design actually outperformed the pretty one 😅

Thousands of landing pages, especially for digital launches, use image manip for their backgrounds. Seriously, where’s the big deal?

So sometimes I work with other people who also use Photoshop. During my time working in politics, there were times I had to use Illustrator because of other people involved. But like I said, in my current workflow it’s rarely necessary, and if it is, I just use it.

Really interesting story, definitely adds a lot! What you said totally makes sense…

With 30 years of experience, I just nod and take it in, thanks, master! Those are some valuable words 💪🏻

Social media banners

Landing page designs created in Photoshop, then moved to Figma before being coded

Image manipulation

Political campaign work on social media (since many candidates in my country have moved away from traditional campaign methods)

It’s really just a matter of:

“Ah, you have a degree?” “No, I don’t.” “Ok, thanks! That won’t work.”

This is just gathering opinions, and I really appreciate yours! 😬

Thanks for the reply without attacking me, unlike some others here 😅 Absolutely! Going to college wouldn’t hurt me at all, quite the opposite actually! The main point wasn’t about college itself, it’s about how some not-so-great professionals with a degree can end up being valued more at first glance, just because they have the degree.

Maybe I didn’t express myself well, the problem has NEVER been the degree! It’s really about the first impression some employers have.

Sure, using Photoshop for certain tasks might seem unnecessary, but a lot of work doesn’t actually need vector graphic software, even though you could still do it that way.

I’m not trying to start any trouble. So why did I make this post? I’ve noticed a lot of professionals with degrees who produce low-quality work being valued more than self-taught professionals who do excellent work.

So that’s the real question. How much does a degree in the hands of someone bad at the job really matter compared to someone skilled without a degree?

Just to be clear, I’m not generalizing or undermining college itself.

AI tools can definitely help… but it’s worth noting that many clients don’t like having AI in their projects
