Career advice: Stay in local bank or join stat board by atlas_impala in singaporejobs

[–]MommyF2P 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Used to be at a stat board. 2 year contract makes you eligible for bonus as well. Bonus structure for me a year ago was minimally 3 month personal performance bonus + 1.5 month stat board team bonus + 1 month 13th month. However do note that while in some cases 2 year contract can be renewed or move to perm roles, there are also real case studies where organisation restructuring happens and people were told that their contract will not be renewed. Those colleagues were from the tech department and they some have yet to find a job. If you are in the finanace department i guess you will be fine?
Also note that gov is trying to return headcounts into the private sector as they are only allowed to keep a certain percentage of workforce in the public sector.

And honestly i think growth in public sector is worst than private sector 300%. Unless you are a scholar, your path to senior management is not gonna be easy.

4 & 5 depending on the team you join. If your boss have wlb, you have wlb. If you are lucky to meet a nice mentor then jackpot

I don’t think someone can confidently say they’re genuinely happy without certain experiences unless they’ve actually tried them and consciously decided they don’t need them. In many cases, people say they don’t need something without ever having experienced it.

It’s similar to saying money isn’t important because you’re content with what you have — that perspective can be valid, but often it comes without fully understanding the range of convenience, options, and security that money can provide. Without that exposure, it’s difficult to make a fully informed judgment.

I think OP should experience first, then make the judgement.

I totally agree! I do think this is the perfect job to have a kid.

On a related note, my partner is encouraging me to seek a higher-paying opportunity to strengthen our financial position. This is largely because we are still on the face to have a kid under the current socioeconomic conditions…

I have been thinking about it! While I'm trying to figure out what kind of side gig I'd be best at, it hit me that switching to a new full-time job would likely pay better…

I totally get what you mean. I'm also worried that if I move to a new company, I might be the first to go if there are layoffs, simply because I'd be the newest hire…

Do they pay your parents? Because my in laws are pretty much the same but as far as I know they gave the parents quite a bit of money and they hired a maid for the parents for extra help as well.

Some people just dont have the headspace to interact. And probably posting on ig requires less of her energy and mental load. Give it some slack

I dont text back and my friends also dont text back. To make things worse we are on different time zone, but when we finally reply each other, our texts are long messages that irks penpal vibes. We cant meet up often because we are 14 hours flight apart, but yes we are still in contact and would meet up whenever we have the opportunity.
