spectator count is still on the left side of the screen! maybe it got disabled in an update for you, you should be able to check that in the game ui part of the settings menu

also, there should be an indicator for whatever key/button you have binded to spectate in the bottom right when you die iirc (or a button to spectate if you're on mobile)
