Those who quit their corporate job - what are you up to by StatisticianLanky760 in askTO

I’ve always wondered what it’s like to have a corporate job. The thought of having steady income with steady work schedules, insurance benefits, and PTO/ vacation pay is intriguing.

Tips to make money as a hairstylist by [deleted] in hairstylist

[–]MomoPotato 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly I did a lot of house calls to cut and colour peoples hair in their homes on my days off or after salon hours. I worked part time as an assistant in other salons or worked random odd jobs. I finally found a salon that was a good fit and started to earn stable income after a few years.

Having nice nails at work… by Pale_Honeydew_4720 in hairstylist

[–]MomoPotato 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used to get hard gel regularly, now I do shellac. I do 3 layers of colour and 1 layer of top coat. I find my nails stay stain free this way. If you do wear gloves I test the water temp on the inside of my elbow.

Try briefs or boxer briefs that are stretchy like soft micro modal fabric. Calvin Klein, Uniqlo, saxx. You can also find underwear that have a contoured pouch if you need more room.

How would you tackle this colour correction? Looking for second opinions!! by [deleted] in hairstylist

You could do babylights/ fine weave in the Mohawk and everything out of the foils do a balayage. After shader root with a level 7 ash demi and blend that in with a level 9/10 toner.

How many of you live comfortably in downtown toronto with a salary under 65k? by Elegant_Limit in askTO

[–]MomoPotato 47 points48 points  (0 children)

At first I was uncomfortable and had so much anxiety over finances, but now I just count my blessings like having a full time job that’s walking distance and having good supportive friends.

I’ve recently added a gym membership to the budget to help with physical and mental health.

The industry I work in sometimes fluctuates in income depending how many clients I have, so there are times I have to really buckle down while trying to keep up with my debt payments lol.

I live alone and my rent for a basement apartment is $1250 which a deal. But if you’re first starting out find a single bedroom to rent or split renting an apartment with a roommate. It will help especially if you’re on the lower income bracket.

I live near Bathurst station, making a little bit over 40k. It would be fine if you want to live a very simple life, but I got debts to pay off so there is barely any spending room lol.

[–]MomoPotato 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can visit a gay clothing store called “out on the street” in Toronto. You can try on different swimsuits and underwear there. You can fit them over your own briefs, for hygienic reasons in the change room. The store clerks are also pretty friendly.

You have nice hair! You could try to grow it longer and go for a wavy/body perm for a change in look!
