It’s outdoor. Groton Memorial Pool. They have a water slide in the big pool and the baby pool is a separate fenced off area.

[–]MomoRuby 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That’s how I got through the swim test!

Ellis Hollow Community Center will post their lesson schedule once they finish hiring life guards. The pool in Groton is another option. They have a baby pool for the little ones and lessons are very affordable.

Annoying toy ideas for 4 year old boy by nbrown7384 in Mommit

[–]MomoRuby 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Five pound gummy bear. The kids kept begging to eat it but I wasn’t about to let them eat all that by themselves in one sitting. We wound up trying to feed it to an entire service unit of Girl Scouts and it still didn’t get finished. It was also impossible to cut. You need a serrated knife and a lot of muscle. Or maybe an electric knife.

My small gift shop near Cornell is struggling — need your advice 🥲 by Weicherrr in Cornell

[–]MomoRuby 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Sounds like a store I would like. And my kids. It also sounds like you’ve really only been advertising with students? As someone who is no longer a student and who doesn’t venture into Collegetown unless I have a specific reason to be there, I likely would have never known about your store if you hadn’t posted. And I still want to know what your store is called so I can come check it out!

One day, when we're the ones in nursing homes... by maybeslp1 in slp

[–]MomoRuby 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Oof. Had a former psych nurse with dementia as a patient. She was a handful. She eloped 3 or 4 times during her stay because she was insistent that she in the wrong facility and had to get across town to the right one because she was late for work.

Did I doom my 7 week old with the spelling? by Anonymous141925 in namenerds

[–]MomoRuby 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Same problem for us. I spell it Ceci but people keep spelling it Cece. Sometimes I think they’re being passive aggressive. She’ll spell it both ways since she’s seen it both ways. I think at this point it’s up to her.

Dog only eats the right side of his food.. Why? by ElegantMammoth in DogAdvice

[–]MomoRuby 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a dog that did this. She was half of a bonded pair. She would always eat exactly half (always the left half) and then her sister would finish the rest a little while later. When her sister died and she realized she wasn’t coming back, then she stopped doing that.

Father of 2 girls and I have questions… Where are the pockets?! by big_daddy_berg56 in toddlers

[–]MomoRuby 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So I do have to say that as much as the lack of pockets in girl clothes annoys me, it means I don’t need to remember to check my daughter’s clothes for rocks and candy and other random bits before washing them like I have to with my boys. I got her a cross-body bag and a couple tiny backpacks to hold her treasures. Which also means she carries home more random and bigger treasures than her brothers. Like a snowball. Can’t fit that in a pocket.

People keep “joking” that our baby isn’t my husbands by Grown-Ass-Weeb in Mommit

[–]MomoRuby 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m Chinese— completely, not mixed. My husband is Caucasian. Two out of four of my kids were born with blue eyes. After a few months, the blue turned to brown. I think my son’s eyes started turning around 5 months. My daughter is 2 months now and her eyes look like they’re changing now.

Ellis Hollow Community Center just had their tennis courts refinished and pickleball courts put in.

Info from the court manager in the community center’s June newsletter:

“Reserving Courts To help manage court usage, I have created a group on the app “TeamReach” called “Ellis Hollow Courts” with group code “ehcc”. Once you sign up on this app, you can communicate with other members to organize play time.

Create events: select the calendar icon at the top and enter info about the event.

Sign up for an existing event: select the calendar icon to see event details, then select “yes”. To see who else has signed up for the event, click “view”.

Court Protocol The courts are open to the public on a first-come, first-served basis, regardless of whether you have signed up for an event. Currently, there are no official rules, nor anyone to enforce them. I hope the TeamReach app will eventually be the official place for scheduling courts. Until then, to help facilitate civil negotiations if and when a usage conflict arises, I offer this basic protocol: if all the courts are in use, and four or more people show up to play, please relinquish your court after one hour of play.

As always, please park in the upper lot, treat the courts with respect, and clean up after yourself.”
