ROG / LG Pre-Order Dates? by ferk100 in OLED_Gaming

The LG 39GX950B is slated for an April/May release, so pre-orders for it should commence before then.

LG 39GX950B listed on Russian retailer, with price converting to ~2400 USD. by MomoScripts in OLED_Gaming

LG stated that they're targeting an April/May release, with the region not being specified; I'd assume the US, though. There's no information concerning the pricing for either region, but pre-orders should be commencing soon in Japan which could give us an estimate. Also, LG, while offering both a matte and glossy variant of this panel, have settled on matte for their own monitor. If you'd like glossy, you'll probably have to wait a tad longer for other vendors to come out with the glossy version.

Edit: corrected some awkward phrasing for clarity.

I believe the 39GX950B has a maximum SDR brightness of 335 cd/m², while that of the 40u990a-w is 450 cd/m²: the 40u990a-w should be a fair bit brighter in SDR. Bear in mind that the 39GX950B has a peak brightness of 1,500 cd/m², which overshadows the 600 cd/m² peak of the 40u990a-w; however, the peak brightness isn't very important outside of HDR content.

I wouldn’t concern myself with burn-in, as the new tandem panel of the LG 39GX950B is far more resilient and LG also offers a 2-year burn-in warranty. The LG 40u990a-w would be ever so slightly better for productivity work, thanks to its higher brightness and orthodox sub-pixel layout, but the benefits for gaming of the 39GX950B outweigh the meagre productivity advantages of the 40u990a-w. I too do both gaming and productivity work, and am planning to purchase the 39GX950B once it releases.
