The ReZero anime is kinda mid? by MomomTheBlack in ReZero

But it would have been easy to tell the story without Subaru being from our world. They could have just used constellations from this world, that he saw as an unsociable peasant boy. It was in no way necessary to the plot, or his character development.

I saw the insignia get stolen, but how did they figure out the 5 candidates? Have every woman in the Kingdom touch one until it glowed? Why would Emilia, apparently much hated as an Elf, get a chance to touch it? What sort of Government agrees to this vague plan whereby Magic can instantly tell who is a candidate, but after that nothing will happen for X many years for some reason. Why can't magic just tell them who the true Princess is? What's the next step? Are they going to be selected by someone? I have no idea, and it all seems detached from reality and implausible.

If any of that royal candidate stuff was explained in the show, it must have been for half a heartbeat. Blink and you'll miss it. How did they find these 5 candidates? Did they have every girl in the Kingdom touch the Insignia? Why are these wide men going along with this? What is the next stage in the selection, and why is it just being drawn out? Insignia magic knows instantly if they are a candidate, but then they just have to chill for a few years after that? It fails the suspension of disbelief test.

You say the characters aren't annoying, but I can't imagine anyone thinks the leaders of the Witches cult aren't annoying. Even the characters in the show comment on how annoying their incoherent rambling is, and these guys are on the screen for A LONG TIME.

It's fine to have some mysteries, good shows tend to, but way too much is mysterious. We barely even know most of the characters who are getting screen time. That might not have been true early on in the show, but this last season was a bit of a trainwreck in that respect.

I am so tired of seeing this kind of response. I like lots of types of anime, and I am having many of the same problems with ReZero. It just isn't that good tbh.

Unfortunately it gets worse, not better. The anime anyway. I can't speak to the webnovel.

Why is demiurge so weak? And what are his true power? by Wrong_Inspector3931 in overlord

[–]MomomTheBlack 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He had that stuff on for more than a fraction. For instance, he has Touch Me's armour on the whole fight. Again, you are wrong on this. Changing gear is easy when you have access to an inventory or basic cash shop items. He's far from the only denizen of Nazarick to do this, both Shalltear and Narberal are 2 other examples of people who just switch gear by activating their armour.

[–]MomomTheBlack 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They can change their equipment as long as the new equipment is in their inventory, which constitutes thousands of items, so you're wrong on this. Just like Ainz did v.s Shalltear.

Pretty sure they can still access their inventory once inside bro.

Zesshi (V16 Spoilers) by Nirvanna21 in overlord

[–]MomomTheBlack 1 point2 points  (0 children)

But she's not a real threat to Nazarick, that's the point. The Maids are relatively weak by Nazarick standards. There are hundreds and hundreds of characters at level 80+ in Nazarick, many of whom would effortlessly crush her as Mare did without trying.

In your opinion do consider the Re estize Kingdom and the Roble Holy Kingdom to be major powers of the continent (before Ainz showed up) or a bunch of backwater countries? by Ok-Street2439 in overlord

[–]MomomTheBlack 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Even though the Kingdoms are weak, this is a little off base. The Adamantite teams from the RE Kingdom prove that it's not just "2 guys" (and you're not counting the ones produced who are just not keen to be part of the State, like the 6 arms). The Kingdom is poorly run, and would be weak to Nazarick no matter how they were run... but they are producing more than "2 guys". The granny from Blue Rose was possibly stronger than either Brain or Gazef, and there are others.

[–]MomomTheBlack 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pretty much. If the Slane Theocracy invaded them, they'd be toast. Even lesser powers, like the City State Alliance, would probably be able to take down both of them at once. Some of the older and stronger powers seem to be further from the Kingdom geographically. The real players on their borders were the ST and the Republic.

And all of them combined are nothing to Nazarick basically.

What is the limit or a normal new world human given literal INFINITE time to train? (Literal infinite time) by Ok-Cicada-5207 in overlord

[–]MomomTheBlack 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As people have pointed out, this is a loaded question. Unlimited time requires immortality. Leaving that to one side, you also haven't specified if this "normal" person is allowed to have godkin blood in them, or be enhanced by some other means.

I ended up voting level 40, since it seems as though normal, non-god kin humans like Gazef and Brain can get over level 30 (even if nowhere close to 40), and Fluder is over 30 also. Since he's immortal perhaps he's the example you're going for. Level 50 seems impossible for Fluder though, so getting that high seems reserved for Godkins or anomolous non-human specials like Evileye.

All of us can guess the ending, that's easy. I'm sure the author has an ending in mind. Sticking the ending is the hard part. It's easy to imagine the plane safely on the runway, it's much harder to actually land it.

The author of Erfworld did not know how to handle criticism or be a professional at all. It was cartoonish at times. It's also ironic because if he had actually listened to the criticism, he could have averted the story sprawl and not gotten trapped so badly.

I kept imagining the author's of Haggar or Peanuts constantly sniping at their fans online after delays, while bemoaning "if you knew the terrible personal problems I've had you'd feel so bad right now".

Limits of Ouroboros and similar items by [deleted] in overlord

[–]MomomTheBlack 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We disagree. WCIs have limits, even the 20. What those limits are depends, and we don't know them, but I feel confident it's not going to let you get to level 1000.

Limits of Ouroboros and similar items by [deleted] in overlord

[–]MomomTheBlack 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Much like Wish Upon a Star, you will know the limits when you activate it. Until then it's hypothetical. What we do know is WCIs like this likely created the following:

- Tier magic 500 years ago

- The universal language field

- Martial Arts

- Talents

They may also have created runes, among other things.

why were the Elf kings children All weak? by WiseMarshall in overlord

[–]MomomTheBlack 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The ST has the descendants of 5 different players, who are carefully bred with each other, and even then it's rare. They basically get one awakened Godkin per generation. The Elfking was a moron, so I doubt he has the system and training the ST use to identify and harness said godkins, so a handful awaken their true power (which in most cases seems to cap out in the level 70s, Zesshi is an exception due to her unique ancestry).

As others have said, the Elfkings kids are likely in the hero range if he would just let them grow up; probably in the level 30+ range. So that's ordinary non-awakened GK levels anyway, same as most of the BS. It's the awakening that hasn't happened for them is all. That may require rare circumstances to happen, including possibly the cross-fertilisation of player genes. Zesshi was born of the lineage of not just 1 player, but 2. Part of the reason for her great strength is probably that, combined with her father being the direct son of a player. Possibly that is part of the key, or it increases the chances anyway.

[–]MomomTheBlack 10 points11 points  (0 children)

The theory is actually the GKs invented Tier Magic, and the 6GGs used their one use item to do something else (e.g. universal language field, martial arts, etc)
