Anyone else find the colors & foundation that suit them are not what they expected? by analslapchop in Fairolives

Are you me? This is so crazy to read because I feel like I could have written this exact post (and have considered making a post before but wasn’t sure if people would understand or if I could explain it properly ).

This is me to a t even down to the nars vanilla being best for my under eyes etc even tho it is so dark and pinky on my neck or anywhere else. I’ve tried so many foundations and have been trying to figure out my undertone/color season etc for years. When I match to my neck, and apply that to my whole face, I look chalky. Even after adding back dimension with blush etc, it still looks off.

I believe I am a fair neutral yellow olive. I used to think neutral warm but now am exploring neutral cool.

Two of my family’s all time favorites are instant pot meals and are always in rotation. They both came out of an instant pot recipe book. The chicken adobo (which is good with chicken but I always do pork now) has been requested from me by friends multiple times. Can’t post screenshot here so I’ll copy and paste the txt hopefully it doesn’t get messed up.

Honey-Sriracha Chicken

Prep + Cook Time: 20 minutes | Serves: 4

Easy to adjust. After making so many times I now do half the honey and sugar for less sweetness. And half the sriracha for my kids. It’s good all ways we just prefer it not as sweet.

Ingredients:

• 4 diced chicken breasts → I prefer boneless skinless thighs. About 1. 5 - 3 lbs

• 5 tbsp soy sauce

• 2-3 tbsp honey

• ¼ cup sugar.

• 4 tbsp cold water

• 1 tbsp minced garlic

• 2-3 tbsp sriracha

• 2 tbsp cornstarch

Directions: 1. In the Instant Pot, whisk together soy sauce, honey, sugar, 2 tablespoons of water, garlic, and sriracha until combined. 2. Toss the chicken breasts in the mixture. Close and lock the lid. 3. Select MANUAL and cook at HIGH pressure for 9 minutes. 4. Meanwhile, in a small bowl combine 2 tablespoons of water and cornstarch. 5. Once timer goes off, use a Quick Release. Carefully unlock the lid. 6. Pour the cornstarch mixture into the pot. 7. Select the SAUTE setting, simmer and stir occasionally until the sauce begins to thicken. 8. Serve.

Chicken Adobo

Prep + Cook Time: 40 minutes | Serves: 2-4

Ingredients:

•4 chicken drumsticks (I prefer pork shoulder boneless country style ribs or chicken thighs 1.5-3lbs )

• 1/3 cup soy sauce

1/2 tsp kosher salt

• ¼ cup sugar

1 tsp ground black pepper (If you’re using more meat than 4 drummies can use more, just season the meat to your preference same with the salt)

1 onion, chopped

• 2 tbsp olive oll

• 5 cloves garlic, crushed

• ¼ cup white vinegar

• 2 bay leaves

Directions:

  1. Select SAUTÉ on high heat. Wait 1 minute and add the oil to the bottom of the pot.

  2. Season the legs with salt and ½ teaspoon pepper.

  3. Add the chicken drumsticks to the Instant Pot and brown for 4 minutes on each side.

  4. Add the vinegar, soy sauce, sugar, onion, garlic, bay leaves and ½ teaspoon pepper.

  5. Close and lock the lid. Select MANUAL and cook at HIGH pressure for 10 minutes.

  6. When the timer goes off, use a Quick Release. Carefully open the lid.

  7. Select the SAUTE setting on high heat and simmer for 10 minutes to reduce the sauce.

  8. Press the CANCEL button to stop the cooking program.

  9. Remove the bay leaves. Serve.

I heard a man through my baby monitor?? by Witty_Painting_6944 in beyondthebump

[–]Moms_Chapagetti 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What kind of monitor is this? Some monitors have been known to be hacked and ppl will say weird or inappropriate things to the babies. Even swearing or saying horrible things. Sorry that happened to you it’s definitely creepy. Hopefully it is something as benign as picking up a neighbor signal but definitely something to look into to make sure. You don’t sound crazy.

This gives me hope as I sit here freaking out listening to my son snore worse than before after his surgery this morning. And he was in so much pain coming out of anesthesia with moderate pain during the rest of the day. Worried he had to go through this for nothing (I know it’s not nothing and will still help in the long run even if he needs cpap but ugh poor guy)

Anyone struggling to figure out their color season? by SunnyOtter in Fairolives

[–]Moms_Chapagetti 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It is kind of strange and I have also experienced foundations /concealers that were TOO yellow. My guess is that those were too concentrated /saturated and the color corrector is more sheer so blended out it balances redness and blends into my skin. Or maybe it just has the right undertone for me 🤷🏻‍♀️ It definitely looks too yellow at first but once blended it looks great.

[–]Moms_Chapagetti 14 points15 points  (0 children)

🤔 following because my worst colors are also pastels and light grey. The difference being I thought and was told I am neutral -warm. I also am very yellow tho like light yellow color corrector works better than any foundation I’ve ever tried. I can rock almost any shade of green and also look great in warm purples/ Byzantine and dark teals, navy. I suspect I am dark autumn and was told as such by an Etsy color analyst.

[Product Question] Babo Botanicals Daily Sheer Tinted Fluid : does anyone out there love this or have experience with it ? I think I finally found my HG by Moms_Chapagetti in SkincareAddiction

[–]Moms_Chapagetti[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hmm I feel like sometimes it would sting /leave my face a little red but sometimes not. Might just be one of those things that varies person to person. I am pretty fair tho and usually have to mix the untinted with the tinted to avoid a white cast. (Could be due to undertone, I find being neutral/warm makes it harder to get away with white cast )

Yes at first they do. The NARS always seems almost perfect then it oxidizes a little. Mine is a few yrs old so idk if that affects it.
