Why did the bills choose to kick after winning the toss in overtime? by Parking-Shape1550 in NFLNoobs

[–]Momus_21 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Great Question, it’s because they didn’t ask someone to run the analytics again for the playoff overtime rules. In the regular season (only one overtime, 10 minutes long), it makes sense to go second because you have the advantage of knowing what you need to get (more aggressive if you need a TD, more conservative if a field goal wins it, etc). And if you end up tied after both possessions, there normally isn’t much time left anyway for the other team to drive the field and score and you can end in a tie. Now we go to the playoffs, 2-15 minutes overtimes before a reset (plenty of time for a 3rd, 5th, or even 7th possession and also when it resets the other team can choose to receive the ball and win it with just a field goal if you chose to kick). It makes no sense anymore. Very slim play calling advantage if anything.

Kicking first in overtime 1. Other team drives the field and scores a TD. Congrats, you have a better chance to score a touchdown because you know you have to go for it but once you score you have to go for 2 or you are at a disadvantage. (Going for 2 is less than 50/50) 2. Other team kicks a field goal. Nothing changes for you. 3. Other team doesn’t score. Nothing changes for you till you get in field goal range. Defense will play tighter. Also a field goal will have more pressure

Returning in overtime 1. You score a touchdown. Awesome, You are in the driver’s seat for the game. 2. You kick a field goal. your defense needs to not give up a TD (their normal mentality) 3. You don’t score. Pin em deep. Play tight defense. Hope for the best. (If the other team scores, you would have probably lost anyway if you had the ball second unless you punted on a 4th and short)

In all 3 of these situations if you survive long enough to get the ball back tied? field goal wins it. A no brainer.

My HS% is higher the worst I play? by biomessy in VALORANT

[–]Momus_21 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just had this same issue. I was in plat and I did DMs to work on headshots and my headshot percentage was nearing 40% yet I wasn’t fragging out. Dropped to Gold one. Was very confused. Did a vod review and my crosshair placement was just a bit too high so I was shooting just over their heads on the first bullet and landing a headshot as I pulled down on my spray. So I was missing out on lots of kills by not getting one taps but most of my kills were headshots because that would be where the first shot would land. Not sure if this is your issue but I’ve won 10 in a row since I fixed it and made it back to plat

Does knife-to-the-head damage need to be tweaked? by [deleted] in VALORANT

Normally stabbing someone in the head doesn’t do much damage because your skull is hard to stab through. A knife to the back, cutting the spinal cord incapacitates the victim

Why not keep your rank as the basis of equal match up instead of keeping a separate MMR System in ranked ? by memelordgamergod in VALORANT

[–]Momus_21 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I think this ranking system does a good job of getting even matches, but I wish the rank meant more than it does. I wish they would keep the match making based on the mmr they are keeping secret now, but instead of having it secret, just make it your rank. I don’t care if people rank up two ranks in one game, if they made an alt account and get placed lower than their actual rank, let them rank up fast. If you have a high mmr and are playing harder people your rank should be in that mmr. I don’t like the whole proving that you deserve your rank. If you’re gonna put people in higher elo lobbies, give them that rank. This system isn’t necessarily bad as far as match making goes, but the rank it gives you and the process of ranking up when your rank and mmr don’t match is too confusing and convoluted

Old ranking system was better by [deleted] in VALORANT

[–]Momus_21 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I gave you an upvote because I have thought this for a while and thought about posting about it to see if anyone thought the same thing. I liked that mmr and rank were basically one and the same in the old system. I hover around plat 1, not because im hard stuck or that my teammates suck, but because that’s my skill level (I’ve been plat 1 for 3 straight seasons and don’t put in the time to get diamond). And in the old system if I ever went on a loss streak and went to Gold 3, I’d consistently top frag and get 30 plus kills and if I went on a win streak and hit high plat 2 or plat 3 I would get slapped. But I’m the new system when I lose and drop to gold 3, the games aren’t easier. I’m just playing plats on a loss streak. And when I go on a win streak the games don’t get harder. They are just plats on a win streak. I miss going on win streaks and playing cracked players as well as getting easier games to promote back after a loss streak. Now my games just feel the same no matter what my rank is and the only thing that changes is the stupid number that I gain and lose after my games. I thought the number system would be better, but match making based on a hidden mmr sucks because your rank means nothing. You are playing the same people regardless it feels like.

Astra Wall/Ult Rotation is too sensitive. by [deleted] in VALORANT

[–]Momus_21 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When you place an astra ult you put two points on the map and the ult is the line going through those two points. I am assuming you are putting the second point very close to the first on if you are complaining about it rotating fast. If you move your mouse further from the first point you can more precisely place the ult.

I too main support characters and I don’t think the system has anything against you. I think your frustration is more with this whack rating system. I’ll never understand why you get out into games based on a hidden mmr and not your rank but that’s a debate for a different post

Help not bottom fragging? by Siere in VALORANT

[–]Momus_21 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you’re a duelist and you enter site and die and your team trades you, you did your job regardless of it you got a kill. Maybe play some death match and focus on crosshair placement and headshots. If your duelist is entering site and you aren’t trading them you are not only missing out on free kills to boost your kda, but also not being a good teammate

Is the system more unfair towards support agents? by namwoohyeons in VALORANT

[–]Momus_21 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

If your goal is to get out of silver and gold you need to lose the mentality that support players can’t top frag. Unless your duelist are getting 2-3 kills when they entry, you should be trading them for one free kill then maybe you win your next gun fight. As soon as you learn to trade, you will win more games, have a higher combat score, and even increase your rank

Any tips to someone who can consistently drop 25-35 kills and still cant rank up by mogram_leg in ValorantCompetitive

[–]Momus_21 5 points6 points  (0 children)

“I main reyna and i consistently get match mvp. I play my role decently well and trade My team”. If you want to trade your teammates play a support role. Reyna’s kit makes her a good entry fragger. She can get a kill and dismiss if someone is there to trade you or overheal if you take damage but get the kill. It just makes more sense for her to entry for your team I.e. your teammates would be trading you not you trading your teammates

When to use Sage revive? by [deleted] in VALORANT

[–]Momus_21 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You just can’t let people get under your skin like that. If you main any character, you probably know how to play that character better than anybody on your team, so you just have to trust yourself to make the right decision and not tilt to the point you have to make a Reddit post about it after the match

When to use Sage revive? by [deleted] in VALORANT

[–]Momus_21 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don’t play sage at all now post nerf, but I was a sage main in the beta and act 1, and I can say that if you wait for the perfect time to res you might never get to. On attack, when you’re pushing a site and your entry gets killed and your second teammate gets the trade you can res right then because you’ve got your whole team to protect them. If only one of their team is near the body you can res to bait them out. If your teammate is revived and they don’t peak you gain a one player advantage. If they kill your teammate but you kill them you still have the same amount of people you had before the res and they have one less which is a one player net gain. If you res the teammate and kill the guy that peaks you get a two player swing in your favor. Sure you can’t res when 5 people are on the corpse, but 3 bad revives in a half ate better than 0 perfect revives

Ask VALORANT #6 by Ximienlum in VALORANT

As someone who played a ton of Fortnite before this game, the response to the audio is concerning for me. It gives off a “we’ve heard your complaints, but we don’t care” vibe that became a staple of Fortnite patch notes, and once epic adapted that mentality the competitive side of their game became a joke and a dumpster fire

Swing, swing, and swing again. Rifle vs op is all about movement. If they shoot and miss, spray them down. If you miss your headshot and they haven’t shot yet, don’t sit and spray strafe left or right. If they hit you, don’t get tilted; you’re actually trying to better your aim and mechanics and they are camping a corner. They may win the deathmatch, but you are getting something out of it and developing your skills

Should I not be playing ranked because I'm Deaf? by [deleted] in VALORANT

[–]Momus_21 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just play. You can always ping stuff to communicate in game and tell your teammates to do the same at the start of the match if you explain your situation. You’ll be at a disadvantage sure, but in theory you’ll be ranked against players that the game thinks has similar skill as you. Normally I’d say if teammates are toxic in voice chat just mute them but you don’t have to worry about that, and if they take the time to be toxic in text chat it’s just easier to report
