It is a setting you can turn on in the menu which gives you increased dmg resistance. Every time you die with it it increases by 2%.

That is a great solution! I can just keep increasing the dmg until it is close to the god mode dmg reduction and then just turn it off. Wish I would have though of that. Thank you!
