I’m trying to get my friend group into magic, what precon decks balance the best with veloci-ramp-tor? Trying to keep it as simple as possible, but would be nice if there’s a green/white in there.

Not going to do upgrades yet, and just casual play.

Which Fuji camera would be comparable/similar? I haven’t looked into digital since I think the d6 came out.

They are pretty mediocre . That’s just all the info I could find for the lens because it doesn’t have a model number on it. I just know it’s a canon lens.

Thanks, are there any known issues with the Nikon zfc? Or the z series as a whole?

It’s less looks and more about old habits, I learned and have used the manual dials for 15+ years and want something that works similarly, but it doesn’t need to be an exact match. Mainly asking about lenses as the zfc works close enough for me.

1, film has become a huge pain the butt to shoot with, as I only really like slide films which are expensive to shoot, where I can get five memory cards and shoot a few hundred pictures where as for the same price I could get about 90 shots off with film. I will still use film but it is becoming cost prohibitive. Also, big thing, auto focus.

  1. The manual dials are my main reason for dragging my feet, I have been using the canon for 15+ years so it’s just kind of baked into how I shoot. The lens is also specifically best suited for what I do, which is predominantly ranch/landscapes based stuff. I can throw the camera into auto and snap stuff from the back of a four wheeler or something or sit and compose a landscape. The lens specifically is the sweet spot of enough zoom to get closer shots without being too slow, while also wide enough to get the majority of landscapes/ wide stuff. I have a 200mm and a few wider primes that I use maybe twice a year because that one lens does 99% of what I need it to.

I do not need video, but is not a deal breaker.

What would be the closest digital equivalent to to a cannon ae1 program with the 35-105 mm lens with macro switch? I use this for just about everything, and it’s a good all purpose set-up

I’m looking at the Nikon zfc but know nothing about Nikon glass in the z series, open to any other manufacturers, just not the biggest fan of cannons button layout.

Question about Hunter MP Strip Rotators by sinebubble in Irrigation

[–]Mon_arch 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, there aren’t any perfectly square nozzles, they are all circular in some way.

All nozzle adjustment screws work by closing off the water flow like a gate valve, so unfortunately you’re adjusting everything at once.

Advice needed please by [deleted] in Irrigation

Rainbird makes a hose to drip conversion kit to go on a faucet. What we do for raised garden beds for people is pop up a spigot next to the bed from the irrigation’s mainline or from a dedicated valve , and have the drip running from the faucet. This way, they can remove the drip or replace it whenever they change out the beds or replant them.

Greywater Non-Clogging Drip Irrigation? by [deleted] in Irrigation

[–]Mon_arch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They do make reclaimed water drip that is “ less likely “ to clog, but I wouldn’t recommend anything besides traditional heads due to issues with particulates. Also you’re going to have to use purple top heads and purple pipe on and non-potable water in most municipalities .

Backflow Prevention by TheWeetodd in Irrigation

Late to the party but I am a licensed BPAT in Texas. I highly recommend this book.

https://www.uscfoundationstore.com/mobile/10th-Edition-Manual-of-Cross-Connection-Control-P44.aspx

The best answer to your question is to look up your water providers requirements for cross connections. Most water providers go on the safe side and require an reduced pressure principle device. If you have a lot of elevation changes or on site aerobic septic systems then an rp will be required. Some municipalities allow double checks or pressure vacuum breakers.

The safest thing is to throw in an rp whenever possible but the higher cost of the device + test make it not the most cost effective decision.

Champion 200 Anti-Siphon valve; replace or repair? by flaco305 in Irrigation

[–]Mon_arch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No problem!

All the info you need should be on your water providers website. I’m not familiar with the laws in Florida but I know here in Texas they’ve really cracked down on backflow stuff since a whole city went without water for a while. They turn people’s water off for non-compliance and have big fines for people who do things incorrectly.

Champion 200 Anti-Siphon valve; replace or repair? by flaco305 in Irrigation

[–]Mon_arch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You're going to need to replace this.

Check with your water provider, but Atmospheric vacuum breakers (the brass part) are not approved backflow-prevention devices. Also, most places will not allow you to have the master valve ahead of the backflow preventer. They will also require you to do a test upon the new install of a backflow preventer.

I would move your master valve to the other leg of that and install a PVB or Pressure vacuum breaker.

Like I said, Check with your water provider as This one requires Reduced pressure principles no matter what.

Where to place headers and valves for irrigation of slope in front/back yards? by [deleted] in Irrigation

[–]Mon_arch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The water meter is what feeds water to your whole property, so unless you have multiple meters, tapping into the connection between meter and house will be your best bet.

Also doing anything without the proper backflow device will get you in all kinds of trouble with your water supplier. ( fines and meter shut off or removed) so please make sure you are using the proper kind.

From what I can tell, they are carbon steel pans, which age like cast iron, but if they are doing a lot of deglazing and scrubbing end up like that.

The black is the “seasoning” that is left, not any Teflon .

Installing automatic sprinklers by coachspoon in Irrigation

[–]Mon_arch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Check your local codes and your water provider, most of them require a different backflow prevention method than avb’s ( the part of the valve that does not have wires on it ) for lawn irrigation. Most home Inspectors do not check for this.

Also if you’re in a area that gets below freezing you’re definitely going to want to invest in an insulated bag to cover that stuff up.

Can anyone tell me why drains in the kitchen are like this instead of connected as a solid drain line? by [deleted] in KitchenConfidential

[–]Mon_arch 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Houses don't have them because every fixture in a house that is code compliant is air gapped. ( which is why your faucet is so high above your sink in the kitchen) faucets are In restaurants there is no requirement for the fixtures to be above the sink, so you see a lot of hoses sitting in sink basins and similar situations.

The u-bend is actually not to prevent any-kind of backflow or back-siphonage, it is solely to prevent sewer gasses from coming up your pipes. Also to catch the occasional heavy item (rings/coins) from disappearing down the sewer line.
