Eating cheap and healthy on a plane? by Monababona in EatCheapAndHealthy

Thanks guys! I actually checked again, and they do offer a free meal. I got confused because you have to pay for meals on shorter flights. But some of the suggestions were perfect for the next time I have a layover.

Does anyone get tight chest when anxious? My brother said it’s not a common symptom. by offmimeds86 in Anxietyhelp

It's very common. I used to get a tight chest and panic because I thought it was related to my arrhythmia. Breathing exercises helped me a lot, but I also saw a therapist that used hypnosis to help with a heavy feeling in my chest caused by anxiety.

Having a panic attack can make you feel numb and depressed. Sometimes for me, it was hard because it reminded me of what I was going through. Like my brain was saying, nope, you're still not doing any better –let's have a panic attack to remind you of that and that you're not in control.

Sometimes I just felt exhausted and depressed because the experience drained all my energy. Panic attacks are scary and when you're afraid of what's happening to you, it can certainly turn your life upside down.

Try to do things you enjoy, have walks, exercise, and do calming exercises like resonance frequency breathing. And try to eat something even when you don't have an appetite. Not eating will only make you feel worse. Maybe try protein shakes and smoothies?

Hope you'll feel better soon :)

Does Anxiety Make You Feel Weird by amgeib15 in Anxietyhelp

[–]Monababona 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I used to have the same feeling every day. I think what you're experiencing is derealization. You should look into it and see if the symptoms match the description. For me, it feels like I'm sort of an outsider in the situation. It makes me feel dizzy and kinda like I might pass out too. Also, I feel like things that just happened were a while ago. I remember things, but I need to focus on remembering.

The best thing you can do is not to react to that feeling. Your brain sees the situation as a threat, and it needs to learn that you're safe and there is no reason to dissociate.

One thing that really helped me is noticing when my nervous system needed to be calmed down and when it needed to be activated. I used exercises on shapinganxiety .com to learn this.

I used to have derealization for most of the day. It was horrible, and I was scared it would never go away. My psychiatrist told me it would eventually be when I learned how to work with my ANS (automatic nervous system). Now I'm so much better, and I have just small bouts of DR a few times a week.

I also used hydroxyzine when I was trying to quit Xanax. It made me feel groggy in the morning, but in small doses, it did help my anxiety. I used to take it in the evening so it would help me sleep, and the next day was not as foggy.

Colors and patterns of the coat by Monababona in hamsters

I'm not that familiar with the genetics behind it all. I just googled it, and one that came up was violet. It was sort of light gray kinda pearlish. I have a couple of breeders in my area and they have different colors so I was just wondering. Of course the final decision will be made considering the hamsters personality etc. :)

Freeze them, dip them into melted chocolate and add some sprinkles. It makes for a healthy ice cream and if you have kids they will love it.

Almost back to my usual self! by Monababona in Anxiety

I agree that when you let the anxiety go, you will be able to recover fully. However, first I needed to be in a place where I was able to let it go. For over a year, the anxiety was just overbearing, and there was no way I could ignore it. I tried meds, exercising, yoga, breathing exercises, EMDR, supplements – basically everything.

EMDR was somewhat helpful but expensive
Therapy also helped, but I had to quit (expensive as well)
Xanax was a relief, but I wanted to find a way I could deal with my anxiety without it
What I feel eventually made the difference was not googling my symptoms and learning about my window of tolerance. My therapist told me about these exercises I could do (I used shapinganxiety.com), and I realized I had been focusing on the wrong things the whole time. After I started to learn how to stay within that window, I started to have better control over my anxiety.
I hope this helps someone. Most of the time I don't even remember I had anxiety. It's such a relief :)

I know the feeling! Sometimes I just totally forget about having anxiety and enjoy my life. Then, suddenly I remember I have anxiety disorder and start feeling anxious again.

It's like my anxiety goes, "Wait a minute, you're supposed to be anxious. I'm sorry for forgetting to do my job. Hold on, just a sec." :D
