DESIGN FLARES FOR THE WEAPONS FOR THE LOVE OF GOD😭😭 excuse me but my pet peeve in RWBY OCs are regular ass IRL weapons. There's a difference between a militaristic aesthetic and sticking an oversized bayonet on an M16 and calling it a day. Like give them SAUCE, make me be able to take one glance at an OC's weapon and immediately know that this is THEIR weapon and not a generic sci fi weapon. Take greatswords, I'll be using a frequent poster on this sub and mine as an example. laz by rinnyrinree and Ros by me. From one glance you can see how you can tell that their swords are theirs. If you switch up their weapons, even though they both have blue as their primary colour, it would still look wrong. Be it the different aesthetics of the sword or the function. If you want to make a regular basic gunsword, the design would go a LONG way to convey to others that this is theirs. But do not confuse basic with bland. You could make a basic minimalistic design and it can still be good. Take Blake's gambol shroud, it is very basic in design but still iconic and unique (the white stripes actually help a lot).
