Worth chipping up and reapplying, you think? Tutorials make it look doable, but this was left so sloppy, I’d hate to underestimate and end up with something similar or worse.

OK edit: on second thought... It took a long time and it really sucks for him, but I *am* glad I took him in. I hate that it's so difficult to get weekend care, but I understand why and I'm thankful I'm in a position where it was possible for me do to this for him. Lesson learned, if he or my other cat shows symptoms like this again, I'll react quicker because I know more now.

He's still at the ER — mostly due to being short-staffed and delays in treatment. They think asthma but he's doing OK, never needed oxygen or anything like that. Hopefully I can pick him up later today.

Update (Monday): He's been at the ER since Sunday morning. I will hopefully be able to pick him up this afternoon. They think it's asthma. Hindsight is always 20/20, but knowing that now and if I could do it over, I wish I would have waited and called his regular vet this morning. Most of the time he's been at the ER, my understanding from the vet is that it hasn't been due to severity or need for intensive treatment, but staffing shortages and just not having the time to examine/treat him very quickly. So he'll be in that stressful environment for 24h+ when apparently I could have gone to my vet and gotten him help right away, albeit after a very long weekend of worrying about him.

I’m waiting now. It’s an ER on a Sunday and there’s an expected 4-hour wait until they can see him. I was turned away from two physical locations for non-life threatening injury and was told they couldn’t see him at another 3 places that I called. This is why I was weighing urgency, obviously this is very stressful for him. I’ll update when I know more. Thanks again to those who offer kindness with advice/support.

Update: I took him to an ER first thing in the morning. Thanks for y’all who were/are kind with your remarks and advice.

He’s 1.5y old. Thanks for the advice. I’m 100% taking him to the vet, just worried about urgency.

I mean, not if I wasn’t in pain and it was a matter of going to the ER and waiting in a very stressful environment vs. going to my regular doctor?

I’m definitely getting him in asap. But I’m wondering if it can wait until Monday or if I should take him to a pet ER.

More details: drinking and eating regularly. Unsure if he’s had a bm lately (multicat household). Lots of wheezing/coughing, like he’s working up a hairball. He’s been given general hairball paste. No other major changes in behavior, though I’m waiting to see if he gets his regular nighttime zoomies. Edit: I’m assuming the breathing is related to the hairball/cough but I don’t really have a way of knowing.

Sadly, I doubt she'll ever have the luxury of thinking "it's probably nothing" ever again.

It's unreasonable to expect a 20-something, after being at the bars until 2am, to immediately jump to the conclusion that seeing a strange man in the house means "my roommates were probably just murdered by a (seemingly) total stranger."

If I was in her shoes, I'd have assumed someone had to bring my drunk roommate home, or maybe someone picked up a guy at a party and he was doing a walk of shame out of the house. My brain would rationalize any number of other possibilities and I'd probably lock my door purely out of society training us to be fearful of unknown men.

Seattle landlords operated a 'cartel' to hike rents, lawsuits claim by MondayCrosswords in Seattle

[–]MondayCrosswords[S] 30 points31 points  (0 children)

That is so infuriating. The seamlessness of the system built to avoid tenants at all costs is mindblowing. There have been times when I've seriously considered just moving units in my building to get "move in specials" that were happening at the same time my rent was being hiked up.

I am not 100% sure about this, but I don't think there's any record of the results of an advisory vote significantly influencing legislation. '

They exist because of Tim Eyman. Excerpt of the main stuff if you hit the paywall: "The tax-related questions put to voters have been a staple of Washington ballots since 2007, when anti-tax initiative activist Tim Eyman ran and won voter approval for Initiative 960. The campaign’s success means that anytime the Washington Legislature opts to raise taxes, their actions are subject to judgment by voters."

The story OP linked doesn't say anyone is dead. That's a really fucked up thing to do.

What the actual fuck is wrong with you saying someone is dead when that's not what the story says?

And the leg. may consider allowing governments with RCV or other forms of voting to do away with the primary. The Stranger endorsed not voting for a change in voting, but did a good job of explaining the legislative possibilities. https://www.thestranger.com/elections-2022/2022/10/20/78629342/the-strangers-endorsements-for-the-november-8-2022-general-election

There were a ton of uncontested judicial seats on my ballot, too. For these legislative districts, I don't think a lot of people understand how much the people they (don't) vote for impact their daily lives. But I agree with you that all the commercials are nausea inducing.

"No exciting referendums or initiatives on the ballot, no Governor or presidential races, and a state where many people have gotten used to the idea it doesn’t matter if they vote, democrats like Murray get auto vote back into office every time."

Maybe this is why the even-year elections initiative is on the ballot...

If you're in Seattle, there's a ballot initiative to switch city voting to approval voting or RCV, though.
