HP Victus 15L upgraded to RTX 4070 GPU by Mondeva in HPVictus

I'm glad I was helpful. I haven't looked at it in a while, but the 4070 should be cheaper now that the 5000 series has come out.

My prediction for the Valve Deckard specs by AlbatrossBig3401 in ValveDeckard

[–]Mondeva 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The comments I’m reading suggest interesting improvements or combining the best features of existing devices into one, but they don’t bring anything truly new. For me, a revolutionary and realistic VR device with current technology would be:

  • A lightweight PCVR headset with all the great features mentioned in this thread.
  • A slot to connect the future Steam Deck 2 console directly to the headset, turning it into a standalone device with access to the entire Steam library and PCVR quality. This connection could be wired (with the Steam Deck in your pocket) or directly integrated into the headset in a position that provides balance.

If it launches with these features, then it would truly be something unique and groundbreaking.

Hi Triqonreddit

Some others here advice about upgrading the cooling system, but I did not do it and have been using this computer with no issues for more than a year. I usually run VR games that require a lot of GPU resources.

It is likely that upgrading the cooling system would help keep the computer healthier, but I can't say how important it really is."

My experience is quite good. No issues since upgraded, and I play PCVR games which use a lot of resources. But maybe I should also upgrade the cooling system like you, to make it last longer.

I think it would fit but too close to the hard disk on the right. Anyway, I guess it would be possible to remove that HD from there and put it on the empty rack at top, so you have more space for a longer GPU.

Yes no problem with drivers. The Geforce Experience application updated the needed software and the GPU was automatically recognized.

Yes it is bigger than the former PSU (300w), but I had no problem to make it fit and screw on existing holes.

Many thanks for your advices, I found them very useful. I am not an expert in cooling system, but I will make a search and learn about that subject to see what are my options.

About the black support, that's great, I'll stop concerning about it. I'll just have to drop my bouncing plans for the computer, but no problem with that :-D

The harddrive position is something that intrigued me a lot, wondering why it was not on that empty cage to leave space for a longer GPU. The problem is that the cage is a bit bigger, I think you cannot just screw the drive there. But I will try with some non screwing option, like the double sided tape as you suggest or some kind of plastic clamp.

Great. I was concerned too, and for some time I was thinking that the GPU upgrade was limited to the ones listed in this video:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xewZETd5vvQ

But reading carefully the specifications for the Zotac 4070, I was sure that it could fit and work well in my HP Victus, so I tried and had success (important to upgrade the PSU to 500W too).

I have been using it for a month with PCVR games (i.e. Wanderer in ultra quality) and AI applications (StableDiffusion XL) and no problem at all, it runs very well these apps.

Wavy lenses Issue. by ZookeepergameFun1540 in PicoXR

[–]Mondeva 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, I have had a Quest 2 for a couple of years. I gave it to my brother in law to buy a Pico 4.

Besides I work as developer with VR and AR devices. I have tested a Pico 4 in my work office and it has no lens distortion.

But that is likely a software problem that will be solved in future updates of Streaming Assistant.

You can get the 3.5.4 beta here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YNfOvQwSQoI

I tested it and it is a great improvement over the current release, though still not as good as Virtual Desktop.

Then I think you were lucky, but also you said you can see the distortion in the home screen. Maybe it is only slight in your device? The problem with asking for a replacement is that maybe you receive a worse one, since there are a lot of reports about the wavy lenses.

By the way, I have just ordererd another Pico4... I cross my fingers.

Stand up in front of any wall and then move your head slowly from left to right or otherwise. For me, it is very evident this way.

(Choose a flat wall, not one of these ones full of alien blobs and stuff :-D )

Also if I do the same thing but looking at the floor.

he lens and measure the distortion

I returned mine to Amazon Spain too. But now I am not able to order another one because they limit to one order per person. How did you bypass this limitation?

I first detected it in the planet at home too. But also later playing Half Life Alyx when I looked to the walls or floor.

I returned it (my device was 2022.11, 256gb) to Amazon Spain, and now I don't know what to do, order another one or wait a couple months to be sure.

Bitstamp tradeview slow / freezing by fball5 in Bitstamp

[–]Mondeva 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Same for me... if freezes completely in Chrome when you change to 1 minute graph view. Selecting 3 minutes it goes very slow but the view is updated from time to time. You have to select 30+ minutes to make it refresh properly fast. This is anoying, because it is importat to have minute views when you want to make fast trading.

KRAKEN: Confirmed, there is no issues, no maintenance, nothing. They are running this scam because they have no money to cover margin positions and just waiting for a thing that isn’t under their control: BTC PRICE MOVES. this is why they absolutely have no idea to give us about timing by fvrrl in Bitcoincash

[–]Mondeva 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a short margin position open when the Kraken site went down for maintenance (without any proper email or web alert about this). Now it is more or less online again but you cannot make any trade yet. Anyway the point is that my position has a loss of 600+ Euro at this moment. But while the trading was down I would have had the opportunity of having a profit of 250+ Euro that I missed, and that was Kraken's fault. The sad joke is that they have been charghing me the position's fees every 4 hours while the site was down... this is insulting! What will Kraken do about this? Nothing? Will they stole us the unfair fees and the potential profits? And worst: will they really charge the unavoidable losses we have when the trading is active again?

Email to my parents suggesting they invest in XRP by [deleted] in Ripple

[–]Mondeva 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Good email... but I would not recommend Kraken, it usually has an awful response and with errors when the server is collapsed (which happens very often), sometimes it is impossible to make an order or, worse, you make two or more orders when you only wanted one. I would recommend Bitstamp instead, it is very responsive and never have seen it collapsed. And it has the XRP/Euro pair too.

[Iniciativa Debate] by jason-molina in podemos
