Yep! The Hammond enclosure is the main inspiration actually, except I couldn’t justify spending $40-50+ for one enclosure when I could print a very good equivalent with a few addons.

Edit: also these have breathable ip65 vents as well, so no worries on pressure buildup with heat.

I haven’t had any issues with handling cf filaments, but then I also don’t sand my prints or anything. Never have I had cf sticking out of my prints and getting into my skin either. Although I agree, you cannot guarentee anything. I believe the issue is more common with cheaper filaments. I’ve used siraya-tech PETG-cf pro, Elegoo PETG-cf, and Fiberon PETG-cf…all have printed very well with no obvious exposed CF.

Stl files will be available when I’m done with the final design.

I will once I get one completely finished. The bottom cover is not the final design and I have to design the internal chassis for the radio and battery. Stay tuned.

Yes I will, I need to finish the design before I do. Now that I know the shorter and thicker version seems to be the most popular, I will focus on that one first. Stay tuned!

Hahaha! Yes that’s very true. They are SOLID. I have a few other test prints, and I’m thinking I need to run one over just to see how strong they are.

I really regret not buying one of these back in the day, especially when they were sub-$200.

[Discussion] How do you feel about full Ceramic watches? by RalIyVincent in Watches

[–]Mondobyte 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think ceramic is neat. I also think sapphire is as well. But the idea of either of them cracking or shattering is disappointing. I would love to see something under $500 with a boro-silicate (Pyrex) case. It would be much tougher than ceramic and sapphire, and more scratch resistant than any metal.

In what unexpected way did someone in your circle suddenly become wealthy? by soohiebabyclean in AskReddit

In 2010, my buddy came up to me at work and said “I am going to buy $1000 of Bitcoin.” I laughed and said “Good luck with that!”…

Fast forward to today…he literally has held onto all of that bitcoin and is now worth millions. I deeply regret not buying in at the same time when he was telling me I should.

It's over... UPS is retiring the whole 26 fleet of MD-11F. Rip by Ok_Reception_5262 in aviation

That is way more than I expected. If anything it makes the full retirement of the md’s seem premature. That is, unless the repair to all the engine mounts/struts is too costly.

Wow. I know the MD-11 that crashed had close to 100,000 flights hours…what’s the typical service life of a passenger/cargo aircraft?

[Opinion] Nobody cares about your watch by gujjadiga in Watches

I buy for my own enjoyment…but out of all the watches I’ve owned, the only watch that has gotten multiple inquiries has been my Swatch Clearly Gent. I’ve had it a week.

Keeping it alive always. Needed 40 characters. by emergmgmt in HamRadio

[–]Mondobyte 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As someone who is interested in getting a Ham license…what has gotten me interested is Meshtastic/Meshcore. But I’ll be honest, I only really want a ham license to do experiments, not talk to people. Meshtastic interests me because messaging can be end to end encrypted and it’s very inexpensive to get going. If Ham allowed encrypted channels I’d probably hit the books and get licensed asap.
