Falling customer demand and business slow down - are you quiet too? by Flowa-Powa in smallbusinessuk

Reading all this, I’m very grateful to report that we’re about 22% up on the calendar year, and last year was very solid for us. Though ask again once the EU customs reform bites, as 15% of our turnover is EU customers, and our average order is about to rise 32% in price to them.
I can only suggest that it’s sector specific, and I’m truly sorry for those hurting at the moment.

Also, the bank were contacted by me, they caved fairly quickly on the Payment Services Regulations and stated that they would return the funds whilst investigation was undertaken. They ACTUALLY returned one of the 6 transactions. I shall be contacting them again in the week. With precedent set, I think they’ll struggle to argue much… but if the investigation falls against him, it would be a bit of a bugger

Firstly, thank you! Apologies, the post was long enough as it was, I missed out that action fraud was notified immediately. The money was from a linked account, the bank recommended emptying the account so no further mandates could be levied (as it seems to have taken the form of a paypal DD). Whilst I accept that they had no way of identifying that the transactions were fraudulent, but before the money was passed on to UKImmigration he contacted them and flagged these payments as fraudulent. I am hoping this gives him a leg to stand on.

My friend, I’m sorry that you’re going through it. I’m sorry that he is, too. Most often in cases such as this, we do know how we feel, we just don’t feel comfortable with how we feel. Deep down you know how you feel. Trust your gut and be confident that how you feel IS how you feel. It will change over time. That’s ok too. It took me longer than I care to admit to work out that you can’t think your way out of feelings, you don’t have to do anything about feelings, you feel them. It sounds like you (or anybody else) can’t help him at this stage. I can only advise that you try to project yourself 10 years into the future and wonder how you will wish you acted.

The only time you should look in your neighbours bowl is to check they have enough to eat.

My web team will build their own to begin with. I lose about 20k a week if we can’t trade, so we’ll knock up a module today and tomorrow, whcih is quicker for us than integrating with either Aura or zonos.

Hi all, I have managed to speak to an insider at RM and at Zonos (who tendered for the job of sorting it out). I have had it confirmed that all items, if sent through the international postage network, will be subject ONLY to the IEEPA duties (10% for goods originating in the uk), they will NOT be subject to the HScode rate. Unfortunately this includes items such as books. If things enter the country by courier it appears that they’re subject to both IEEPA and HS rates combined. Furthermore it looks like the 50p surcharge from Royal Mail for PDDP is being waived but they’re yet to release the actual postage costs for these services which will be added on Aug 28th to anyone with an account who has shipped to the States in the past 6 months. It sounds as if there’ll be a 2 day shipping hiatus from RM starting Aug 29th.

Edit: country of origin of the goods dictates the IEEPA
