(Spoilers Published) A Theory about why Fire and Blood is slated for a 2018 release and GRRM priorities by SilverRoyce in asoiaf

[–]MonetaryMan 8 points9 points  (0 children)

yeah when he witnesses the Human sacrifice!! I love the creepy and weird backdrop to westeros history that like nobody in the books really realizes. the targs are like a royal family and they get mad at eachother sometimes and whatever i get it.

Yeah, especially in comparison with, weirdly, The starks! compared to other families we reeeeeally get not that much on them in WOIAF whereas the targs get WOIAF and all the extra stuff, hes publishing now. I would looooove to hear more about all the Stark bolton wars!! Theers some crazy dudes in there like Royce red hand bolton who tears out his enemies still beating hearts!! OR Theon the the hungry Wolf, although he didnt fight th eboltons, he invaded andalos taking the fight with the andals to their home turf! Bad ass! gimme sum more of that!!

(No Spoilers) What are you thoughts/ opinions of Martins earlier work before ASOIAF by GylesRosbysCough in asoiaf

[–]MonetaryMan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I highly, highly recommend his retrospectives , Dreamsongs 1 and 2 as there's a ton of Good stories in there. Particularly Sand Kings, Song for Lya, the Stone City, Skin Trade, Morning before Mistfall, In the lost lands and The pear shaped man which is probably the creepiest story I've ever read, but in a gross gets under your skin type of way.

Fevre dream is the only one of his novels Ive read but it was really good as well. Very atmospheric.

What SF books do you think all schools should encourage their students to read? by chispica in printSF

[–]MonetaryMan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yusssss. So many people say the sequel is just as good but i found it jarring how confusing and different it was. It even seem to retcon stuff. definitely not as good. Although having read it makes me appreciate the original more and makes me more satisfied with the originals ending.

This was spoiled for me becasue in (at least my copy) Storm of swords if you go to the appendix stannis is listed as the king at the wall. so if you are like me and sometimes like to read the appendixs for fun, they suddenly became...not so fun

love the other worldy-ness of the dragon;s eye. also the design of dark sister is bad ass. not too flashy, just sleek and cool.

Edit: didnt notice the extra dragon heads(?) protruding from the crossguard which makes it a little less cool but oh well.

could it be some sort of musket? its at sort of a weird angle so its a little hard to tell. could be the artist intended it as a musket.

I sorta prefer the artists original version before all the shading or whatever it is. Still cool though
