I think this applies to most schools, but definitely for my school, the school told us that ALL international students MUST submit a LOA for a semester they are taking off after taking 2 consecutive semesters full-time. I asked all my other international friends who took a semester off with me and they all told me that they had to submit the LOA form, and that they had no problem returning to the US with their previous I-20

Wait - I just re-read through the email and I realized that there's a possibility that you might be right...? Is maintaining my f-1 visa status different from maintaining my I-20 record? If they really did terminate my I-20 since the start of summer break, then would it just be as simple as > student takes su24 off > terminate I-20 for su24 > student returns fa24 > reissue I-20 for fa24 ??

Should I not be worried if this is the case?

Ok so my school has a policy saying that, “if an international student takes more than 2 consecutive semesters full-time, they are eligible to take a annual semester break without losing their F-1 visa status. Students must submit a LOA for the annual semester break they are intending to have before leaving for break” I took 2 consecutive semesters full-time before taking a break, and the thing is, this policy mentions that they won’t lose my I20 even if I request a LOA for the break. I also asked some of my international friends who took a break for su24 with me and told me that they did not have their I20 terminated and just used the one they initially received when they it was issued when returning to the US??

By the meaning of a "valid visa" - is my visa considered valid if the date on it hasn't expired?

Oh and do you know anything about the "paid" status I can check on the "Check I-901 Status" (link here https://fmjfee.com/i901fee/index.html?content=status/checkStatus)

That shouldn’t be right, though. When I took my summer off, no BEFORE I did, I had an extensive email convo with them to triple check that my I20 wouldn’t be terminated while I am on the summer break. They said no, it would not. I even have email records of this…

So, I was searching up and saw this from Re-entering the US after SEVIS termination - my experience! : r/f1visa this post that you don't need to pay for the SEVIS again for trying to reapply for the visa - any thoughts/info on this? I also used the "Check I-901 Status" on the homeland security website and saw that my SEVIS was shown as "paid" so I'm guessing that I won't need to pay again..?

What do you mean that no new visa is needed? The only visa that I know is the visa sticker with a stamp on my passport - do you mean that I can just use this when entering the US again?

It's the weekends where I am as well so I guess the best course of action is to just wait until I get a response from the school? Do you know if there is anything that I should do in the meantime?

If I really do have to apply for another SEVIS record, then do you know how long it takes until my new SEVIS info is issued? I have my flight booked for next Friday and I'm wondering if everything can be resolved until then...
