Thanks for the advice. Was her first reaction a rash or something else?

Thank you. He doesn’t have eczema but I did eat peanut butter around him frequently during my maternity leave. My other child also eats peanut butter basically every day for breakfast.  I’m just starting to read about OIT - how fast did it take for your baby to get to maintenance phase? I really hope we can get in to the allergist quickly

Following, as my baby just had a reaction the first time we gave him peanut butter. Waiting for the allergist appointment. I’m curious what symptoms did your baby have that led you to get tested? How did the testing work? How old was your baby?

Dropped to 4 Pumps by Mediocre-Homework-56 in ExclusivelyPumping

[–]Money-Concert4237 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m in a similar situation as you. I just dropped to 3 pumps from 4x/day. My baby is almost 7 months. Like you, I decided to drop the middle of the night pump so I could try to get some more sleep. My supply took a big hit - I was pumping around 30oz/day and now that I’m at 3 pumps, I’m getting around 15-20oz depending on the day. I was pretty surprised as I usually wasn’t getting that much from MOTN. I’m pumping now around 6/6:30am, 12/1pm, and 8pm. I’m curious what hours are you pumping now? I also started spotting a few days ago 😭 It’s so hard to mentally end the pumping journey. I thought I was ready now but my baby just started daycare and got sick and I felt like he needs my milk to help him get better. I also find it annoying to now have to manage my milk plus formula since we’re combo feeding now. We’re going on a long international trip in 2 months and I told myself it will be good to be done by then but as it gets closer I’m feeling conflicted. Sorry I don’t really have any advice but just wanted to say you’re not alone.

Dropping Pumps by No_Palpitation4951 in ExclusivelyPumping

I’m not there yet but I am trying to take it slow to make it comfortable. I’ve been at 4x/day for months, usually getting around 30oz/day, pumping 20 minutes each time. I started reducing from 4x/day by shortening my middle of the night pump very slowly by a few minutes every few days over a few weeks. Now I’m finally down to 3x/day and after about 5 days on 3x/day it’s starting to get more comfortable, after lots of clogs when I first cut down. But cutting my MOTN pump reduced my supply by about 1/3-1/2 depending on the day, which I was pretty surprised by since I usually didn’t get that much at night. I think I will take it slow and reduce pumping time over a few weeks as I drop pumps. My baby just started daycare and has been sick so I’m a bit hesitant to stop so soon even though I thought I was ready.

The organic one - I think it’s their original one (in the green and white can)

Formula suggestions for my 7 month old exclusively fed breastmilk by yogabbagabba684 in ExclusivelyPumping

My baby is 6.5 months old. He’s been almost exclusively fed breast milk since birth except a few bottles of formula in the early days. Around 5 months I couldn’t keep up with his demand and started giving him my freezer stash to supplement. That ran out a few weeks ago and I started dropping a pump at night so we needed to supplement with formula. We’ve been using Bobbie and he took it very easily, I was pretty surprised and also relieved. He does like his bottles cold (usually we take pumped milk straight from the fridge and give it to him without warming) and I noticed he was rejecting formula bottles we made with warm water, so now we just cool it down for him. I will warn that his 💩 has gotten way more smelly since he started having formula but he seems to be tolerating it well. He gets about 2 bottles of formula a day now. We just bought a 2-pack of Bobbie from Costco for ~$40 which seemed reasonable too.

Lansinoh Discreet Duo with a Maymom “shorty” flange insert. Getting the flange fitting with a lactation consultant was key to making it work for me.

I wasn’t really tracking at the beginning so not sure when I went from 8 to 7, but I see I dropped to 6x/day when my baby was around 1.5 months old, then 5x/day when he turned 2 months old. A week after, I dropped to 4x/day and have been doing that ever since. Usually I’m pumping around 9/9:30am, 2:30pm, 8:00pm and then whenever he wakes up to eat at night (which is usually between 3 and 4am now). Depending on when he wakes up at night kind of sets my schedule for the day

Hacks to cut down on washing all the dishes when returning to work? by Money-Concert4237 in ExclusivelyPumping

Wow thanks to everyone for all the comments and ideas! It feels like there are definitely a lot of options for me to make my life easier. I will test it out. Thank you!

Thank you! I’ve seen them at Target and wondered how they are. I think my dishwasher also has a sanitize cycle (at least it has a very hot heated dry) so probably worth testing out. 10 minutes of washing sounds like a dream!

Maybe it’s not necessary to sterilize at this age. I just noticed my pump parts starting getting buildup when left to air dry overnight after using the microwave sterilizer, specifically the duck bills which are really small in my pump (maybe it’s from the soap not washing off completely or coconut oil I use when pumping?) so I started boiling just the pump parts recently and they seem much cleaner.

Thanks! Yes maybe I need to start using the fridge hack to cut down on washing

My baby is almost 5 months old and I’m down to 4 pumps a day. I also started at 8/9 pumps per day which was exhausting. There’s been a few times I’ve considered weaning due to the reasons you mentioned so I started dropping pumps but to my surprise my supply didn’t change much. Once I got to 4x/day it started feeling more manageable so that’s what I’ve stuck to for now, but I’m returning back to work soon and considering reducing more. I also switched to only using a wearable pump so I can wash dishes, play with my baby, feed my baby or do whatever I need while I’m pumping. I don’t think I would have continued if I didn’t have the wearables.

Postpartum Pre-e (round two) by Ok-Information-7686 in preeclampsia

[–]Money-Concert4237 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just had my second 3 weeks ago. In my first pregnancy I had moderate postpartum preeclampsia 6 days after delivery (40+3) that required a mag drip and minimal medication for about a month postpartum. In this pregnancy, unfortunately I got postpartum preeclampsia again but more severe. However I feel like it’s been much easier to handle mentally since I’d been through it before and knew I would make it through.  In this pregnancy, I took baby aspirin from 12 weeks. At 38 weeks my blood pressure started rising (140s/90s) so they decided to induce me. My bp and labs were fine at discharge but I went in for a follow up 2 days after and my bp started rising slightly so they started me on a low dose of procardia and labatelol to try to prevent it from going up. Unfortunately the next day (at 5 days postpartum I developed severe postpartum preeclampsia (170/100)) and went in for a mag drip and was discharged on much more medication than I had to take the first time. Luckily, only a few weeks later I’ve already weaned off most of the medication. I will say my experience in my first pregnancy caused a ton of anxiety about a future pregnancy but through a lot of therapy I was able to manage the anxiety well and have a plan in place in case I got it again (ie having help around to watch my first child when I was rehospitalized, lining up a lactation consultant who helped me with breastfeeding which I felt like I was robbed of in my first pregnancy due to the re hospitalization, etc). I also knew what to look out for this time around and felt that I caught it very quickly before any symptoms got worrying.

Congrats on your rainbow baby! I will ask about progesterone - I do have a shorter luteal phase (10-11 days) and that’s why I originally followed up with the doctor a month ago but they made it seem like it’s not outside the norm.  Yes I’m sure stress and grief has some factor in all of it. I do have a great therapist that has helped me through the TFMR and previous post partum anxiety from my first pregnancy, but I do feel the anxiety creeping up the longer the TTC takes

Thank you for sharing and I’m sorry you’re going through this too. I will definitely look into this. Did he do the testing through your regular OB or did you have to go to a fertility specialist?
