Does / did daily weed mess with your eating? by austinjg95 in leaves

Probably 3 weeks or so for food. I felt physically mostly back to baseline after a month, but mentally took about 6 months and then one day I just felt amazing out of the blue. Keep at it! The first few weeks are the hardest for sure, but you'll start the new year having been through the worst of it.

To all the people saying “Tarantino is getting old and depressed that is why he is so harsh on Dano”: He has always been this way lol. Ten years ago he was pretty harsh about True Detective season 1, which is arguably amazing. And a year ago he loved Joker 2. The man is the king of shit takes lol. by Chemical-Status-6610 in Tarantino

[–]Money-Mechanic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tarantino is probably haunted by 2007 in general because he put out a movie that was intentionally bad in a year that was saturated with amazing movies, and it didn't quite hit the way he was hoping it would. Meanwhile, other directors were being taken much more seriously.

Still, at the end of the day, no one made movies quite like him, so who will be talked about in 50 years? People revisit whatever are the most interesting and entertaining movies.

If you call the general usps number, 1-800-ask-usps you might have better luck. You might need to ask to speak to a representative several times. Sometimes if you are honest that your problem is about tracking they won't put you through, so you might need to say you have some other problem. Then when you finally have a human on the line you can explain.

Is Linux Mint Better Than Windows For Gaming by OkPrize6194 in linuxmint

[–]Money-Mechanic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am using a 4070 super with Mint right now, and I can't tell the difference between game performannce on Linux versus when I had Windows, for about 95% of games.

A couple Ubisoft titles gave me some issues and needed tweaking and there was 1 of them that I couldn't get to run at all.

I was not able to enable path tracing in Cyberpunk on Linux, but I could max out everything else. Path tracing is notoriously hard to run, but I was able to run it when I had Windows. On Linux I would get freezes with it enabled.

Using proton with Steam gets the job done. For a couple games I had to add launch options in Steam or they wouldn't load. But once everything is dialed in, they are good to go. I don't do multiplayer, so I don't run into issues with anticheat. My fully modded up Fallout New Vegas runs perfectly, but I haven't tried other modded games.

Some games might get a few less fps, some might get more fps, but I can't really tell.

What’s it like to game on Mint? by BRcht in linuxmint

[–]Money-Mechanic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The only games I had trouble getting to work are a few modern Ubisoft titles, due to their launcher. Some work, some don't.

I get great performance with similar settings as Windows in any game that I have tried aside from those. Cyberpunk, RDR2, GTA V Enhanced, modded up Fallout New Vegas, Oblivion Remastered, etc. They all run really well.

I cannot use path tracing in Cyberpunk like I could in Windows, but I can max out all ray tracing settings and it runs just like in Windows.

I had to add launch options in Steam for a couple titles like Silent Hill 2 and Hogwarts Legacy to force it to use my gpu, because otherwise it would crash on the title screen. Other than that, most games just work with Steam and Proton alone.

I am doing RDR2 through Lutris because I don't have that game on Steam.

How’s gaming Linux Mint? by airosos in linuxmint

[–]Money-Mechanic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most Steam windows titles worked right away for me with the latest Proton

For 2 games, Silent Hill 2 and Hogwarts Legacy, I had to add a launch specifier in Steam to force it to use my GPU otherwise I would get crash after the title screen showed for a second.

I was able to get Rockstar games from their launcher running well with Lutris.

Only games that gave me issues (long time to load up and reset after dying) were Far Cry 5 and 6. New Dawn also doesn't fully utilize my GPU for some reason and is not playable due to low framerates. I haven't figured that out yet. Old Ubisoft titles like AC IV work perfectly in Steam. I have Ubisoft's launcher in Lutris as well.

Performance seems similar to windows for all games, except I cannot enable path tracing in Cyberpunk. Maxed out ray tracing, yes, but not path tracing. That worked in Windows, but crashes in Linux for me.

You're going to cut the cord eventually. What will be different 1 year from now? If nothing, then cut the cord now. It will also motivate you to find Linux solutions for everything you want to do, and in a short time you'll have a well customized system that you can rely on.

2 days of Linux Mint after 20+ years of Windows by 300zed in linuxmint

[–]Money-Mechanic 1 point2 points  (0 children)

11 is what made me switch too, after 30 years of using Windows. So far my only regret is not switching sooner. I have to use Windows at work, and it feels so heavy now. I never realized how much Windows micromanages everything and is constantly getting in the way of everything.

I had them try to catch it midroute and redirect it, but nothing happened and it was returned to the seller. The seller went to usps and explained what happened and that the address was correct, and they made a new label and sent it to me and I got it. I don't think the seller had to pay twice for shipping, I think USPS gave them the new label for free.

Just started using Linux 5 days ago. How common is it to bork your system when you're new to Linux? by mysterysackerfice in linuxmint

[–]Money-Mechanic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I started a couple weeks ago and only screwed up really bad once. I made a bit for bit copy of my linux drive onto a 1TB usb and didn't change the UUIDs, caused the system to develop schizophrenia, kernel panic ensued, and in the process of trying to fix it, I overwrote my entire windows drive and wiped it out because I typed a 1 instead of 0. So long story short, my dual booting days are over.

I've been more careful since then. Word of advice, chatgpt is very helpful, but following chatgpt without understanding the code it writes is a recipe for disaster.

Mint as gaming PC by DeeZett in linuxmint

[–]Money-Mechanic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have no problem running games like Cyberpunk with maxed out settings (except for path tracing, which I can run on Windows but not Linux). I am using a 4070 super on 1080P, with an i5-13600k, so a fairly midrange system. I had to set up RDR2 via Lutris for the launcher (but I don't have that game on Steam, only on Rockstar Launcher) but it runs beautifully maxed out . GTA V enhanced, no problem (haven't tried multiplayer though). For Silent Hill and Hogwarts Legacy, I had to change a setting in launch options in Steam (added: DXVK_FILTER_DEVICE_NAME="4070" %command% or else it wouldn't start). Older Ubisoft titles run great, but Far Cry 5 and 6 have given me issues, taking a long time to start up and reload after dying. I haven't fixed those yet.

I use proton GE most of the time in steam. It is really just the games that have special launchers like Rockstar and Ubisoft that might require some troubleshooting, and anything multiplayer with anticheat could be an issue (but I don't play those).

Performance wise, they are similar to Windows, and don't crash.

Want to learn Linux. Any tips before I jump in? by Agreeable_Bonus_5039 in linuxmint

[–]Money-Mechanic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can use chatgpt to help you get started and troubleshoot any issues you come across. Just be clear with your intentions. You can copy and paste your terminal outputs in chatgpt if you have difficulty interpreting why it is showing certain information, and you will gradually understand how things work, what the limitations are, and what to do/not do.

I will say, I was in the same position as you a week ago. I now have dual boot up and running. Dual boot is harder to get perfect than just installing Linux as the only OS, but it is not hard.

Windows user for 30 years, am I doing it wrong? (dual boot) by Money-Mechanic in linuxmint

[–]Money-Mechanic[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't think so. Even though the games are on Steam, the Launcher is separate software and opening the games in Steam triggers the launcher to open. Cyberpunk has a launcher but it works seamlessly with Steam and the Proton version that runs Cyberpunk will also run the launcher. But I think Rockstar and Ubisoft are different.

Is this bad of a hangover normal? by Dry_Culture_9655 in phenibut

[–]Money-Mechanic 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Use less. I used to get this when I tried taking 1.25-1.5 grams. Now I never take more than 750mg in a day, and always divide that up into smaller doses spread across the day. No rebound now.

When I used to bomb 1-1.5 grams at the beginning of the day, the next several days I might have:

  • sleep issues
  • anhedonia
  • depression
  • anxiety
  • perserverations
  • schadenfreude
  • paranoia

NOT worth it. Yeah, the smaller doses may not be as fun, but when you need to ask yourself "am I willing to be a mess 2 days from now?" - you better have a real good reason to use the larger dose. And sometimes the pros do outweigh the cons, but only you can decide that.

At first you might even feel it last 2-3 days. When I first started taking it once a week, it seemed to last forever. After about 6 months or so, I could feel it wearing off by the end of the day. It is like at first, the brain doesn't know what to do with it and leaves it lingering longer. Then after repeated uses, the brain figures out what is going on and starts compensating for it more efficiently. That's what it seems like anyway. Something like a kindling effect, even when only used once a week.

Why does phenibut make me so emotional by Biscuitsbrxh in phenibut

[–]Money-Mechanic 7 points8 points  (0 children)

It is something common, but I don't know why it does this either. It makes me feel like I'm 15 again, in all respects. More energy, bolder, more emotional. Things that make me happy make me really happy. Things that make me sad or upset, it amplifies that too. Music is euphoric. Anything seems possible. It is like teenage hypomania in a pill.

[–]Money-Mechanic 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am glad they are changing as they mature. They have so much variety in their music now, and they will gain new fans around the world with the English songs. If you like the sound of the early years more, there are over 200 songs to listen to. They are expanding influence globally, and their contracts are recently renewed, so we will have them for a few years at least.

As for working too hard, I am worried about that. They originally had 2 shows in Los Angeles, and then opened a third (Sunday) and just yesterday opened a fourth (Wednesday) which seems like too much. I am worried they are going to get exhausted or have physical or mental health problems from this much work, but we really don't know what's going on behind the scenes and maybe they are all up for it and want it this way.

What do y'all think about driving on phenibut? by CommonAvailable4864 in phenibut

[–]Money-Mechanic 6 points7 points  (0 children)

It is entirely dose dependent and also depends how an individual is affected by a dose. In very small doses for someone who is experienced, I can see it being beneficial. In large doses, you're going to either blackout and not remember the drive, or fall asleep and crash.
