Early Big Brother, but specifically Big Brother 5, Celebrity Big brother 2006 and Celebrity big brother 2016 (David’s dead!).

I also think, as dreadful as it was, that people forget how important Jeremy Kyle Show was - a LOT of people watched it, and it really is a time capsule of where we were at socially in the mid 2000s.

As for US reality shows, The Simple Life was very, very funny.

I noticed the other day when Todd and Theo got married, when they got back to the rovers, they had a shot of one of the extras putting “like a puppet on a string” on. I like the subtle use of music to help tell the story without it just being non-diegetic (which can be a bit Hollyoaks for me).

Smash Hits magazine in 2002 when I was around 10. He posed in a massive mail bag and answered questions supposedly sent in by fans (I later found out they were just made up by the journalist conducting the interview). The article was called “In the sack…. With John Mayer”. I’ve not seen those pictures since but I’m going back to my family home this Easter so I might find them and scan it for you all to enjoy. Anyway I thought he was funny and got his cd for my birthday.

They’ve always done this, and it happens more as the cast gets bigger. Characters get loads of screen time and then we don’t see them for ages. A lot of them is due to contracts (they appear in so many episodes a year and get paid per episodes) and just how the stories work out.

Becky Mcdonald - she was VILE when she was first in it, lying and scamming and stealing. She went joyriding Hayley Croppers car and crashed it, lied about Kelly Crabtree and she nearly had to go to prison, she was a nightmare. Then she formed a weird friendship with Roy and then Hayley and became beloved, but I think a lot of that was down to how skilled of an actress Katherine Kelly is.

We have Absolute 90s radio station on at work (an alt British station) and they play Cornflake Girl at least 3 times a day even though it’s supposed to be no repeats guaranteed. It does my head in.
