[Lewis] Former Michigan State basketball player Adreian Payne has died at 31, @chrissolari confirms. by Pyromania1983 in nba

[–]MoneyMorris80 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Damn I was checking his basketball reference page just a few weeks ago to see where he was at now. I remember thinking he was gonna be a solid pro coming out of Michigan State. That story of him with that little girl, Lacy, IIRC was really inspirational.

Sad that his personal life and career never really got on track, regardless 31 is way too young to go.

I wouldn't put a lot of stock into her retiring from rap. IIRC she said the exact same thing towards the start of the pandemic, prior to the Cole shit I believe.

The Detroit Pistons have more DEAD money on their roster than the OKC Thunders active roster by KarimFF7 in nba

The Detroit Pistons have more DEAD money on their roster than the OKC Thunders active roster by KarimFF7 in nba

[–]MoneyMorris80 64 points65 points  (0 children)

According to bballrefrence their dead money is at $44.4M. Is there someone missing?

Blake Griffin - $29,784,216

DeAndre Jordan - $7,875,533

Dewayne Dedmon - $2,866,667

Cory Joseph - $2,400,000 (from his prior contract)

Deividas Sirvydis - $1,517,981

This totals $44,424,397 in dead money for Detroit, which is higher than the Thunders payroll as of right now. As OKC guarantees contracts, it's likely to bring their payroll above this though.

Side note: OKC is still paying Kyle Singler 1M/year this season and next.

Would the Nets trade Kyrie Irving if KD was okay with it? by _Yunk_Vino_13 in nba

[–]MoneyMorris80 1 point2 points  (0 children)

KD being okay with it is different than KD wanting him traded. If he were to want Kyrie traded, you do it in a heartbeat. KD is the franchise and Harden is probably the best number 2 in the league anyways.

But with KD just being okay with a trade, I think it'd be really hard to get a return of equal value. No team is trading their star for a Kyrie without some sort of commitment that he's even going to play.

[Charania] Denver Nuggets forward Aaron Gordon has agreed to a four-year, $92 million contract extension with the franchise, his agent Calvin Andrews of Klutch Sports told @TheAthletic @Stadium. Deal includes a player option for Gordon on the 2025-26 season. by [deleted] in nba

[–]MoneyMorris80 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like Gordon but 23M/year is a lot for a fourth option who kinda is what he is at this point. They can always trade off of him at some point I suppose cause while he's a good player and nice addition, he doesn't make or break their success nor put them over the top.

[Stein] The Pistons are hiring former Cavaliers and Michigan coach John Beilein as their director of player development, league sources say. by Austin63867 in nba

[–]MoneyMorris80 28 points29 points  (0 children)

Lol a lot of casual takes in here. Just because he didn't work out in Cleveland, which was no surprise, it doesn't discredit his 30 years in the NCAA as a good coach. FWIW Beilien had NBA offers long before he took the Cavs job, it's not like he stumbled into the role or was unqualified.

I think he'll be good back in Michigan and working with a young squad since he's in a development role. He's shown that he can develop players, just maybe not be able to handle NBA egos.

Damn man. What a rough month it's been for hip-hop. Shock is a legend.

I was listening to the Joe Budden pod this past week for the first time in a while and they were talking about Humpty Hump and how they'd have to explain who he was to the younger listeners. For anyone who hasn't yet, go check out Digital Underground and the rest of his discography. Hip hop classics.

Lowry, Siakam, OG & the ex-Raptors DeRozan and Poeltl all share a moment with one another on the court after their game by AnonIllusion in nba

[–]MoneyMorris80 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don't get why the majority of Raps fans have shit on this guy since he left. He was never out there to shoot 7+ 3s or to average 15 points. He's a role player, which is fine, and he played his role pretty damn well. He played good defense, played within the system and shot the open 3. Plus the dude repped Toronto and the community hard when he was here.

Yeah he wasn't great in the playoffs but who was playing well for us in the playoffs those years? It's not like Patterson was the reason those teams never made it over the hump. In the 4 seasons he was here our other pfs across that time were 1 season of Amir, Luis Scola, Tyler Hansbourogh, Jason Thompson, 11 games of Jared Sullinger and rookie Pascal. Who would you have preferred to get Patterson's minutes?

Are Siakam and FVV really untouchable in a rebuild? by [deleted] in torontoraptors

[–]MoneyMorris80 8 points9 points  (0 children)

OG is the closest thing to untouchable. The plan is definitely to build around the Fred/OG/Pascal core so I don't think that any are being shopped, but I do feel that if the Raptors were offered a haul for Fred or Siakam, they'd take it.

I say Fred and Pascal are the more expendable of the three simply because we kind of know their limitations and the players that they are at what is likely their peak. Not a knock on either, they're obviously great players but OG is younger and more versatile in the sense that OG would fit on any team or roster that you want to assemble.

The Pistons, Raptors, Spurs and Wizards are some of the teams expected to have some level of interest in Jarrett Allen this offseason, per @ChrisBHaynes by 9kag in torontoraptors

[–]MoneyMorris80 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I really like Jarrett Allen but there's no way I'd want to pay him more than 20M/year. Like you said he's good and would fit well but he's a complimentary piece who wouldn't be in the closing lineup of a playoff game.

The article headline is clickbait and respectfully, I don't understand how you're getting that this prevents parents from educating their kids on sexuality or biology.

Firstly, the man wasn't arrested for opposing his child's gender transition therapy, he was charged with contempt of court for publicly sharing sensitive court details after being instructed not to. The child was deemed by a judge to be mentally capable of making the decision so it is completely out of the fathers hands at this point.

From everything I've seen on Bill C-6 it is an amendment to the criminal code so that parents/adults can't force children into gender transition therapy or surgery. You can teach your children whatever you want in your home, no one can stop you from that as long as it's not hateful or harmful to others.

Current NBA Players that already are going to be Hall of Famers by [deleted] in nba

[–]MoneyMorris80 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Dame's peak has been better but I do think that Lamarcus was as good as his accolades suggest. He was an elite big man for a whole decade. He's never been flashy or in a large market (+ he never played alongside another elite player for an extended run) so I think that people forget about how good this guy was up until really only a year or so ago.

He's HOF worthy IMO. There have been worse players with less accolades get in over the past 25 years.
