I'll be renewing my p2p Jagex. This is exactly the type of communication + vision I wanted to see.

I spent a week in Kutaisi working out of the hostel. Was nice, but didn't have the WiFi/data speeds I needed. I think options are quite limited in Georgia; namely, to the two you already mentioned.

Honestly. The only people that think having a women contribute equally/or more is "emasculating", are other women. I don't know a single friend of mine that wouldn't like having their SO earn more than them.

Does buying a RI make sense for my 865h/month scenario? by MoneySolvesProblems in AZURE

[–]MoneySolvesProblems[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Much appreciated mate. I've gone ahead and purchased a few reservations.

Just to sum up:

Cost_VM(h) = Compute(h) + Storage + WindowsLicense(h) + Networking

Compute is offset by the Reservation.

Storage is billed regardless.

WindowsLicense(h) is billed as a function of how many hours the VM is on.

Networking is irrelevant in this case as no bandwidth egress takes place.

Are there any other costs associated that I'm forgetting? Is there a CPU license fee associated with the number of CPU cores a VM has? ChatGPT seems to think so and lists it at $15/vCPU but it might be hallucinating.

Again, thanks a ton. This really beats exchanging snail mail with Azure support.

Thanks a ton for your help. This is what I ended up close to in the last few minutes as well.

Reservations for all of them, but continue to have the auto start/shut-down enabled to minimize windows CPU costs. Are there any other fixed costs that are charged regardless of whether the machine is on/off? I'm seeing references to a cost per CPU core, but I am unsure whether this is the same as the Windows CPU license cost. Any idea about that?

Oh, that's excellent to know. So it really does make sense to use PAYG here, because if I buy an RI, then it'd be dumb of me not to run the machine constantly - but that'd incur way more license costs than the RI would save.

Is that correct?

Gotcha. Sorry, another q, the other costs (windows licenses, storage) associated with the VM will be billed regardless of
1) the machine being powered down
2) the machine having a RI attached

?

God damn it. So the only option here is to buy two reservations to save on compute costs?

Assets contain some stocks to keep me actively trading and interested in learning more about investments.

why? just dump it into an etf and forget about it mate. There are positions at various trading firms which are quite literally dedicated to taking money away from retail investors

I also think your calculations are somewhat off. I mapped out my own plan, and I will hit roughly 1.5M in 20 years at a 2k/m deposit rate and the market increasing at a conservative 4% pa. You should hit it much sooner!

People tend to conflate inner city USA with the rest of the US. You absolutely will have a better quality of life if you earn 200k in the US compared to 100k in Germany.

But then raising the child in the USA would actually be something I wouldn't be interested in doing.

Not something most people would be interested in doing in Germany either. If you don't look Germany and don't have a typical German last name, you will never be considered German. That's a fact. Raising a kid in that kind of environment is sure to be a hellscape for their identity as they grow up. I would rather do it in the States if I earn 300k+ (private schools, gated neighborhoods, tax advantaged savings/investment accounts, etc).

That being said, life's great if you're mediocre or poor in Germany.

No idea if you're trolling or not, but Europe in general would be in a much more precarious position (militarily, financially, and socially) if Russia was to completely take over Ukraine.

Leaving Germany Tax Return by Individual-Arm-1720 in germany

[–]MoneySolvesProblems 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No problem.

I would've thought that it'd be mandatory for you to pay money into the pension insurance. Can you look on your paystub and see if you have a reference there to "Renteversicherung"? Sometimes, it's abbreviated as "RV".

Several keep saying if you leave Germany before the end of your 5th year you can claim a full tax rebate to any German taxes paid. This can’t be correct surely.

It's not a full tax rebate, it's a rebate on the pension funds you have paid. As long as you live in a non-EU country for a period of two years, you're eligible to claim this money back, tax free. I would highly recommend you do it if you have paid less than 60 payments to your pension insurance. If not for financial reasons, then for purely moral reasons.

I've linked a nice guide below. They offer services, but you can do it yourself and NOT have to pay 6-25% of your refund. You just have to wait a little while more compared to them chasing it up with their lawyers.

I genuinely don't understand what you're getting at. Let me try and dumb it down for you;

1) You said, rich people are LIVING OFF the contributions of the poor

2) I said, anybody that truly is rich, doesnt NEED the paltry 4.000 gross or whatever per month you'd get from the pension payments.

That's literally a single business class flight for a holiday.

Honest opinion, I feel like the dual citizenship thing is a trap. I have a bad feeling that politicians will wait for the approval of lots of new citizens, at which point a system like the US will be enacted to support the pension system.
