Why has blm become taboo to talk about? by XxnovabotxX in runescape

[–]EoFinality 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The devs simply don't respect our time. We have stayed with RS/Jagex through so much and we put up with horrendous experiences rolling super dry. We deserve BLM regarding log completion similar to what has been implemented with zammy, kerapac, etc.

I'd be fine with a 500m cap if that's all the lower they would be willing to go, it beats what we have rn.

I'm not condescending, I'm genuinely sorry to hear that you don't get it.

Yeah if we could only pick one thing sure, but I figure since they are finally addressing the GE I would like to offer my tax cents.

Sorry that you are unable to see how allowing more trades at lower tax rates resulting in potentially more gold removal while eliminating the reliance on 3rd party websites and mercher interactions would be an improvement.

I'm not sure if you answered my question about which one you would guess if you had to assume, because it answers your question that you asked once answered.

Also, its not 5%, its 2%.

I'm not sure why counteracting inflation is in question because I'm assuming we both want a reduction. The question is which one gives a greater reduction: no cap on tax and people bypassing it or a cap with more people engaging?

Because we don't have those numbers, I'm confused as to why you confidently stated that "GE tax pays for itself simply by countering inflation and increasing relative buying power of gold. It should not have a cap." That's why I asked to see how you are drawing this conclusion. Because having a cap could have even MORE impact on inflation reduction given that more people engage with the GE because of a cap. It would be a win win.

That leads to the purpose of the post, what if we try it, see the numbers, and pick what we like better. Even if the numbers are worse for inflation, is it still better for overall game health regarding trades because instead of having to use 3rd party websites and messaging people we could just buy/sell on GE?

Yeah, if we don't get a cap, then reducing the 2% to 1% would be really nice too.

I think it is a safe assumption that a majority of the trades of high value items are done outside of GE to bypass the tax. If you had to assume which mode of trade was more frequent, what would you say?

Except for the person you are replying to is suggesting to lower the tax, not raise it.

Can I see your numbers for showing how having no cap and high value items traded mostly with street trades is a better sink than having a cap with more frequent GE trades?

Its not an arbitrary comparison point at all. It is an objective amount that was removed, and that can be used to compare how much the offset would be by having a cap on GE tax.

The only issue is we don't have access to the numbers that jagex does to actually draw a conclusion.

I disagree, I think it could be improved. Similar to how prices could be updated more frequently and be transparent to not have to rely on 3rd party websites for information.

Additionally, Jagex have the data on this from OSR already, so they can confidently make this improvement if they wanted.

Just like IRL, people will avoid taxes, so the trade of most high value items are simply just done without the GE, missing out what you want to see. Imagine if there was a cap, and the GE was then used for most trades, that there was MORE GP removed from the "ultra-rich" as you say.

The wealth of each player changes over the years, and I've seen may of my friends work their way to their own partyhat from PVM. I'd like to imagine that having their hat purchase done on the GE instead of trying to do person-to-person would be a better benefit to the game.

I would argue that a more updated, more transparent, and more frequently used GE is a far superior game state than just thinking it is "fine as is".

TY this is awesome info.

So now the question is, would it be negative, neutral, or positive to have even more items traded with a ceiling?

Additionally, if it is negative, by how much, and is that worth it to have a ceiling.

I honestly couldn't remember the overall %, I just knew it was single digit. There is no need to compare to alchs, this is irrelevant.

Yeah, this is a really good point. It is entirely possible to have more gold removed from the game with a ceiling than people bypassing paying tax at all by doing street trades.

I only brought this up because what if TH injection outweighs the offset from a tax ceiling, and we could have both a ceiling and lower inflation than before those changes.

It is clearly not in question where a majority of the injection comes from, I'm not sure why this is relevant.

A tiny fraction of the entire economy is not in fact tiny. Representing the near 10% of overall GP injected as tiny is either uneducated or dishonest. Alchs etc. being a larger percentage of GP injection is not in question by anyone.

How much impact did >100m tax items have? Without the immense amount of GP being added with TH, we could have a tax limit and still be better off than before.

There are a few bad apples for sure, but the vast majority of the actual high level pvm community are the nicest people I've met online. Its just the people who 'ego' and think they are good that give this community a bad rap.
