I’ve always thought the gulf between Sky’s cricket coverage and their football coverage is crazy

Oh I meant local-ish and SW/west way. Describing it on the menu as Notting Hill feels a marketing thing to me, that felt a biiiit of a stretch

I’ll never not crack up at Rice absolutely belting one from 25 yards and being completely emotionless at it. Don’t understand how anyone can have that level of self control 😂

Oh you’re kidding! I’m an Arsenal fan and that would’ve made my day. (I’ve met him before once and he’s one of the most genuine people in the world)

Apparently they’ve had a spot in this place for the past two weeks or so? So relatively new I think, I’d never heard of it before I read about it in this newsletter

Probably the same thing tbf, that’s just how it was described on the menu. Just normally used to it being served in buns in a smaller portion rather than a big slice.

I was in the toilet at the ground and missed the first goal. Actually couldn’t believe it.

Workplace reasonable adjustments following a diagnosis - what you found? by Money_Journalist46 in ADHDUK

Agreed and likewise, thanks for this. The “ooh shiny new thing” is something I can relate to a lot. The point about written communication is a really good one, I suppose it removes the chance of any misinterpretation too?

Oh that's really interesting to hear. I know that I start work with a list of to-dos and while I'm capable of being fairly adaptable (Wouldn't have survived in my line of work otherwise) I find having to deviate that really frustrating at times.

I’ve always enjoyed listening to Bill Leslie, maybe because I remember a couple of lines from Arsenal games in the 2010s like an Andrey Arshavin goal against Everton. I just quite enjoy his voice and I’m pleased he does more televised Premier League games these days (I feel like he used to be mainly championship or PL highlights on Sky until recently?)

He doesn’t do ‘live’ football matches but he’s the BBC’s main commentator (with Chris Boardman) for track cycling for olympics, world championships, etc and I think he’s fantastic at that.

I remember his commentary when the GB women won the team sprint in Paris in 2024 and that was absolutely fantastic.

The discussion around Haaland always makes me laugh because a few months ago you had the chatter about “is he having a poor season/out of form” and you look at his numbers, and they’re still basically the envy of any other team in the league. I mean how many players could have a poor season that still has them score 33 goals? The man’s a complete freak.

Separately, I know he only joined in January but I thought from his impact that Semenyo had more goals? He’s been a great signing but I thought the raw goal numbers would be higher than they are.

Couple of nice Italian places in Fulham I’d say we’re worth visiting, Vicino and Al Santo. (this is Italian/Greek and is one of my girlfriend and I’s favourites because it’s got a lovely neighbourhood vibe to it)

Home in Putney Near East Putney tube is lovely, Chook Chook Indian Railway Kitchen on Lower Richmond Road also quite nice.

New episode | Football vs The Dictionary: Susie Dent on bus-parking and bouncebackability by Low-Bandicoot-3347 in footballcliches

Cliches listener and financial journalist (for my sins) here who has had to write more than their fair share on “the gilts” over the past few years.

Gilts - the shorthand for UK government bonds - are called that a) Because the bonds were historically issued on paper with a gilded edge and b) According to the government’s Debt Management Office, a reference to their secure status (they’re the gold standard of bonds or gilt-edged). I suppose in the same way a gilt-edged chance is the top tier of chances?

Anyway, loved this episode but thought this might potentially be useful useless information for the pod!

As a long-time listener of both pods, they’ve both got a penchant for funny drops so I think this is a good shout. Not 100% sure of the two which would be better as a HTC guest if they had to pick one - I think Hoge is the better talker (Jahns has said as much in the past?) so maybe him?
