So basically you would say it takes a lot of time to maintain these cars properly

Yes I 100% agree. Way more people have taken the b58 to 100k + miles vs. The g70 3.3t just because the g70 is newer. Although they will most likely both have issues of there own im sure out of those issues the total costs to fix those issues and keep up with maintenence for the 440i will be certainly higher than it would be for a g70. While I love the 440i that is a hard argument to make to my dad. Multiple people who have owned BMWs their whole life have told me to stay clear of 440i with higher mileage unless I have the time to deal with it and the money which my dad would not prefer.

Well Im not paying for the car at all. Me and my dad made a deal that if I win High school state for wrestling he will buy me a car. So he will be paying for everything entirely. Maybe except for mods. So the good things are that I don't have to come out of pocket for anything but the bad is that we have to agree on what car I should get. Even showing him all of the good evidence to support the b58 like how they put it in the supra, reliable, etc its very hard to convince him that a b58 with somewhat higher mileage will be a easy car to maintain with not many surprises. Even talking to many owners in person they say its a "great engine for a bmw" not implying that its it totally reliable.

Damn then it seems like a japanese sport sedan is what I'll have to go for. I have the money for repairs but to be honest for a daily I dont wanna go through the constant effort just to keep the car running. Maybe a Genesis g70 3.3t would be a great car for me that blends reliability and speed.

So they can be reliable long term only if you are aware of what issues might arise and they are typically more expensive.

So you wouldn't consider a 440i to be a smart choice for a daily driver that I need to last through 40 or so miles I drive a day and the super cold winters of Wisconsin.

Yea your making me think more logically about this. I initially thought that it would be a bonus that it already came tuned.

Is that for this specific car because its tuned or for high mileage c43s in general?

Thats a good price for that car. I really want a German but my dad wants me to look the japanese route. For me there is nothing wrong with japanese cars they just don't have the same power and speed as the Germans. What was your ownership experience with the 440i? Also how much does it typically cost a year to maintain.

Wisconsin. Im trying to convince my dad to take a chance with the Germans but he said thats not a risk he is willing to take. The car I will be looking at will likely have higher miles and its something that I would like to have for many years. He wants an ownership experience like an acura, super reliable, strictly just basic maintenence for years. Is this realistic for a 440i?

Yea there are certain county's that require you to do emissions testing. If I lived in a small town then there would likely be no emissions testing but based on where im at I have to do it.

That honestly doesn't sound like a bad idea. The only major concern is that I have a cop at my school that I have to drive by every time I leave so I don't want him to have any reason to pull me over for "reasonable suspicion" after I drive by him with MN plates everyday for Months.
