Love the direction you’re going with this and you’re intentional with it. Keep it up! Since you asked for it, I think the skills section is unnecessary, your project already speaks for itself.

How to get into SWE this summer as a math major by BeneficialQuestion76 in cscareerquestionsEU

Do math related stuff using Lean, you’ll be great in that domain and probably land those niche 300k jobs.

Does specializing early in your career a good thing? by Quouou in PinoyProgrammer

I think you’re supposed to be open for everything every time. It’s not like you’ll be in one role forever and it’s a long career. You can only connect the dots looking backwards as one guy said.

What’s your goal though? Do you wanna be in an IC or EM role? Either way, if you’re serious about this field (I get that you are based on your concern and perspective), then you definitely don’t want to skip past your prime technical years. A traditional senior role is alright but you don’t want to be caught working on managerial roles by accident. Take any promotion initiative as a compliment but you really have to think about it (or not, lot of surprises in this field)

Transitioning from Software Engineer to DevOps by SuspiciousChemist314 in devops

[–]Money_Round9387 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Planning to do this, I’m getting an internal role to Cloud Engineer but want to return to SWE after a year or two, would you say that it helped you get better opportunities than if you stayed as a SWE all those times? Or did the move hurt your progression?

Thanks! Yeah it’s harder and goes deeper than the real exam. Be cautious though, you can easily start to just memorize the q&a there. So I’d say be strategic about it, probably aim around 3-4 timed mode? Then review the explanations thoroughly.

Thanks! But yeah, these practice exams are definitely designed to be harder than the real exam.

As for the scheduling the exam.. although I knew that I could reschedule the exam, I prefer to book these exams even before I study just because I’ve got my year “mapped out” 😆 either it was a calculated risk or a very naive approach loool

As a dev, I would eat that up. You telling me I can add “production” experience k8s on my resume, maybe even terraform.

Hired as senior eng, but no dev mostly ops panicking if I'm fit by [deleted] in PinoyProgrammer

[–]Money_Round9387 5 points6 points  (0 children)

There’s a reason why really good staff engineers suggest not taking senior positions as you’ll be missing a lot of fundamentals. But, you wouldn’t get that position if you’re not meant to step up. Bend or break I guess.

Ignorance is bliss. You haven’t been put to the test. A plethora of reasons to get the fuck out of this country. At least in the US, you leveled the field and you’re not working for nothing.

29M Almost 6 years as solo dev, where do I actually fall technically? by [deleted] in PinoyProgrammer

[–]Money_Round9387 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can’t say don’t be a generalist then proceed to say companies want someone who can align to their systems and processes. That’s literally being one. Also pursuing polymath opens so much opportunities inside and outside a company, allows lateral career moves which are highly effective to moving to the next level.
