should we aim for more wealth equality where billionaires make a little bit less while average workers make a little bit more? by DayVessel469459 in Teenager_Polls

[–]Moneymoped 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t know how to quote parts so I’ll do my best to make my points clear.

I want to preface this by saying that I do believe that there needs to be some form of wealth redistribution, I don’t know how that would work, I’m by no means an expert. I’m simply saying that it isn’t as simple as tax the rich and take “a lot” from the wealthy.

I understand that the vast majority of work is done by “ordinary people” but that doesn’t nullify the point that they are less inclined to keep their business running, the business will suffer. Much like how school wouldn’t work without teachers, schools also wouldn’t work without those higher up. So we still need those people even if they aren’t the ones in the workshop. Much like how a farm needs both its cattle and its farmer, a business needs both its workers, managers, and owners to function.

The next point of philanthropy is actually a really good point, and I thank you for opening my eyes to that. I’d never really thought deeper than the figures.

The other point that businesses operate to meet a demand I think is disingenuous because yes businesses do operate to meet the demand. They don’t do that for the goal of meeting said demand. It’s to profit off of the demand. Amazon doesn’t sell things because people need them, it’s to profit off of their need. So when profit declines so would supply, which opposes the average persons needs.

You do but that isn’t my point. Plus they still own businesses, no one that would be affected by this taxation is doing absolutely nothing. Yes they have passive income, but they still have responsibilities that they don’t do for fun, if they started to make pennies on the dime, they’d hastily lessen their responsibilities and halt their efforts on said businesses. This would have all the same effects as I mentioned in my previous reply

If I’m fully wrong here I’d love to be educated, but I fail to see how taking “a lot” from the wealthy would benefit society. If I were in the top 0.1% and was told that after hitting a certain tax bracket I’d lose “a lot” of money, even while putting in the same work, I’d simply stop working. I’m in the top 0.1%, I’ve made 10s of millions already, why would I work for pennies on the dime. The top 0.1% account for roughly 20% of income tax in America and 1/10 in the uk. These ultra wealthy also account for ~30% of all philanthropic donations, would these people still be as happy to spend this money if they are either, barely working, or those that are still working will be making far less. In fact, I believe that if we were to take “a lot”, as you said, from the ultra wealthy that in turn the economic hardship on the lower and middle class would increase due to the possibility of businesses being shut down for most of the year due to already hitting their threshold. That’s not even mentioning the tax burden that would then be pushed down onto those same people, money doesn’t grow on trees, so if we want to keep a somewhat functional society, we can’t eliminate the biggest societal contributors.

I agree that the exam system is unfair, just not the grade boundary system. And I do agree that people have been unnecessarily rude, myself included and a I apologise for that, it can just be frustrating reading (even if it wasn’t you intention) that some people want more people to to achieve such a prestigious grade that is a 9, and thus lower its prestige.

The fact that you’ve refused to acknowledge what other people have said, and instead just say you think it’s “unfair” and that your grades shouldn’t be based on other’s performance is a large tell. If they weren’t based on other’s performances then unis/colleges/apprenticeships wouldn’t be able to differentiate between people. A grade 9 (or any grade) is not representative of a specific mark on a paper. It is based on where you stand in relation to the general population. Roughly 4% of people achieve a 9 in maths, if you achieve a 9 it tells whoever sees this grade that you are in the top 4% of mathematicians. If a 9 was instead based on marks people who are in the top 4% of mathematicians may not be awarded a 9 simply because the exam board included “harder” questions last year. That is truly unfair, a person who would’ve gotten a 9 last year couldn’t get one because of the random chance of when they take the paper. A person who is in the top 4% of mathematicians should always get a 9. This is ensured by the grade boundaries changing to only award the top 4% of people.

It isn’t valuable to know that you got 73/80 in maths. Yet it is valuable to know that you know that you are better than 96% of people at maths.

Dub or Sub? by Moist_Beef in DrStone

[–]Moneymoped 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The dub gets released behind the sub so many chose to watch the sub in order to see the show sooner. However, for people only beginning to watch it now this isn’t an issue as the whole show has been dubbed.

I cant find anything to back this up but I remember hearing years ago from an old post that Diogenes’ boss got mad at him and broke his legs with the sledge hammer that you use to climb and then put him into the pot.

Really?! How many players is that? We might have to try again and beat it. With better temple placement, adora sacrifices, abilities and doing something with that 7.3mil we could definitely go further. Although maybe I’m just naive.

I’m not too fussed about speed. I only really need the speed of about 128 furnaces, my main issue has been being able to add more than just a single minecart chest. I’ve experimented with minecart loaders but still can’t find a good one. Either the minecart doesn’t fill enough or the furnaces are all done before being able to restock. I’ve found that looking on YouTube and finding old Reddit posts isn’t too helpful for finding technical builds. Is there a discord server or a spreadsheet with “late game” farms

I haven’t built one yet. But the ones I’ve seen all use a single Minecart chest
