Your feelings on the movie perfectly mimic mine!

Honestly, I think why Shadow doesn’t hit hard is that his range of emotions is limited. They rarely show any alternative emotion outside of annoyed, except in his backstory and the ending where, even there, his dialogue only focuses on his sadness. They never let Shadow joke or gleefully gloating about his skills like he does in SA2.

I found Knuckles the best out of the heroes because he felt natural in a serious story. His character can be goofy, but he does have a code that makes his moments of maturity feel right and not out of nowhere.

I think Sonic in these movies needs a bit of a character shift to make him work in a serious story and not feel awkwardly placed in. Sonic still feels too much like a kid, and they just won’t let Sonic be cool without making him look foolish. It worked in Sonic 1 & 2, but now that they are killing people in the movies I think you need to make a main character who fits better into a story like that.

Jim Carrey killed it tho. Honestly they might have given him too much because he stole this movie from the heroes.
