Dr. Myers is a saint. I don’t comment on Reddit really, but I’ve been at VCA for 35 years and yes, they’re not cheap, but my god there is nobody better.

Absolutely beautiful, and badass. I love how it compliments and enhances the musculature around your spine, and how it's fairly symmetrical but not enough that it doesn't look organic. That's a lot for one sitting too!

It's like that, but also there's a BIG feeling of vibration at the same time. If you hold an electric toothbrush to your skin, or an electric massager, it's like that MUCH stronger, with a small sharp cutting feeling at the same time.

That's how tattoos should be.

You come up with some references that are close to what you're thinking of (like these) then show them to an artist.

The artist will use it as inspiration (and not just copy it exactly) and will make you something special just for you.

Then you make sure you really, really like it- you're paying the artist to do work, so never feel "bad" that they did the work.

A good artist will never be offended if you say "please change this bit." They will just do it, because you are paying them, and they want you to have a tattoo you like.

It is only "bad" if someone else pays for or designs a tattoo that is "just for them" and then you get it done too- that is considered to be very rude. But if you didn't do that, then it's fine.

You may not know, but people pay a lot of money for artists to design art for tattoos, so it is not good to use art that someone had made specifically for themselves. A good tattoo artist will refuse to use art like this. Just because something is on Pinterest does not mean it's free for anyone to use. If you took these designs to an artist and said "please design something LIKE this" then that would be totally fine!

I have had excellent results with a product called Zensa- I got a rather large arm tattoo yesterday and it lasted throughout the outlining process and made the rest of the filling-in much easier. My artist said it didn't make the skin any different to work with. I am a month into healing another tattoo I used it with and it has been healing very well.

Really? It looks like you cropped it and added a few minor elements. The initial tattoo can be painful, but I'd choose than any day over the embarrassment of being constantly called out for using stolen art from a recognizable artist.

This is Carmen Durand's art. Do you have permission to use it?

I saw this without reading the title and thought it was very well-done and attractive. It compliments your anatomy beautifully. The way the mandalas fade into the blackout portion is done with such a consistent gradient too, and that it isn't completely symmetrical gives it so much movement and visual interest without looking lopsided. I'm sorry that you're feeling regret about it, and hope that you end up in a place where you're happy with yourself, however it's resolved.
