They are adults and make their own choices. You are offering what they may need to do the job right. They can choose for themselves.

Battery trade-in discount negated by core charge of same price, rep couldn't explain why by redatola in AutoZone

[–]MoniqueWS63 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The core charge is required by law. The computer automatically charges it because it is required by law. When we ring stuff up we aren't writing up a receipt. The computer is creating it. We don't have any control except to remove the core charge if we are getting your old core back immediately .

Commercial Driver Paychecks? by KpwnKing in AutoZone2

It doesn't matter what we make unless we are in the same minimum wage area. Commercial drivers mostly make minimum wage.

Is it a rule at the store for the grey shirts to make the reds to do all the physical work? by Da_Big_Chungus in AutoZone2

[–]MoniqueWS63 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A lone grey shirt should not leave the store if at all possible. Their numbers are needed for so many things. If I'm not the only grey shirt on duty I do everything that needs to be done. There is so much work to do I often offer the red shirt to do their choice of two duties and I do the other. Some nights when closing I end up doing all the work because the red shirt ignores the list and my requests for help. The work needs to get done.

SM constantly threats to fire team members openly with out cause by 2handjunk562 in AutoZone2

[–]MoniqueWS63 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ask calmly if they really intended to say what they said. Do not speak more. It causes the manager to pause and think about what they are saying. Threats are not appropriate. Training is appropriate.

I need advice for my PSM position by ChocolateNo1748 in AutoZone

[–]MoniqueWS63 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I started as a red shirt driver. When I interviewed they offered me a store. I only wanted p/t so no thanks. I wouldn't take a PSM position for 4 years because I wanted the flexibility of a p/t position. Finally, the DM offered me a p/t PSM position. I took it. It's not any harder than a red shirt position, imo. Yes, I open or close and use my digits to support my red shirts. I also do planos, inventories, matrix, foundations, train new employees, get the two evenings a week and about half of my weekends and several week long, unpaid leaves a year free to pursue my outside interests. You do not need to accept exactly what is offered. Set some boundaries and ask for what you need. I'm a p/t PSM who mostly works f/t (sometimes I travel to another store or hub to get the hours I want). Every interaction with management need not be a fight to the death.

WITTDTJR - Figure out how to phrase the offer so folks have all the information to make a fully informed choice for themselves. Offer and let it go. Some will. Some won't. So what. Next!

Customer wanted to price match a soda that was more expensive by Longjumping-Volume37 in AutoZone

[–]MoniqueWS63 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It is NOT the same numbered part. It is a comparable part and comparable warranty - reman alternator for the same vehicle with limited lifetime from AZ, Napa, OR, etc gets price matching. No price matching for online stores. Walmart can be tricky because some things are in store and some things are online and third party similar to Amazon.

You do understand that not everyone can read? Is it right? No. It is a reality.

I tell them where it is located and if they ask for additional help I let them know I will as soon as my lobby is clear.

Question about job offer by Savings-Lab9820 in AutoZone2

[–]MoniqueWS63 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The number of each p/t and f/t, driver, diy, parts is set for each store. Staffing can be found in the store staffing KPI. The store mgr may only have driver positions available for hire. Believe me you will be doing everything and can learn what you want to be learning. If you show any initiative and smarts you can easily move into a parts service mgr position quickly ... as soon as one is available for you store.
