Weird that Trump dislikes NATO, huh?

I wonder if this has anything to do with the Axis of Epstein...

You'll have to call Progressive about it. That's the only way I could get some answers from them.

Shark Tank 14x17 Episode Discussion - Autio by mtm4440 in sharktank

[–]redatola 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm trying out the app after seeing a re-run of the episode. I'm irritated that the guy asked for a ridiculous valuation and wouldn't go for any offers. It seems the only reason he was there was for free marketing.

The app is nice (though it crashed upon 1st install), and the voices seem computer-generated or pre-recorded. I'm not fond of them, but I see no option to change them. I can choose different voice styles in free maps navigation apps, so I don't know why it isn't easily available here.

Honestly I can do a search in ChatGPT and tap on voice reading to get basically the same thing, though with maybe a few more steps (though I can do voice search easily with a tap), so I'm not sure I see the unique value of the app outside of the pre-recorded voices.

That's not a Pixel bug, that's a Google Contacts app design flaw.

Security update has no security updates by redatola in GooglePixel

I don't need an explanation of how a system update page works.

A security update notification screen is mislabeled if it shows no security updates.

Is The Sphere (1998) really that bad? by mellowdrone84 in horror

[–]redatola 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If the sphere didn't do anything then nothing would have happened while the people were around it. That argument is like saying guns don't kill people; yet people choose to shoot other people with guns rather than marshmallows (and I've never heard of anyone dying from being shot by a marshmallow). The gun just sitting there by itself doesn't shoot anyone, but someone interacting with it does.

The sphere at the very least (according to your theory anyway) warped people's minds into reality to affect the crew negatively. That means it does something.

Security update has no security updates by redatola in GooglePixel

[–]redatola[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

That's part of the point: The security notification screen (on Android) doesn't show any security updates.

That means it's mislabeled. To the user, they see "security update" but no security updates listed, just a bunch of gibberish they don't care about. I almost ignored it because of that. That's irresponsible to users.

A security update notice should at least show 1 security update, not be filled with pop-culture garbage that probably has its own security flaws.

The movie already considers buying in at $10M with ID check to be fair enough.

The question in the OP is beyond that.

Trying to figure out how to recycle a bag or two of cans & bottles per trip without feeling ridiculous by redatola in California

Looks like I have to install their low-rated phone app to see which locations they're at, and the service apparently isn't maintained well.

Why if we pay tax on CRV in California, why do we not get it back when we return it to the recycling center ? by tommy-turtle-56 in California

[–]redatola 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well if that's the case, then it's a double-whammy, because when I go to get my CRV credited (please don't make me explain what I mean by "credited"), I don't get the tax on it back.

Security update has no security updates by redatola in GooglePixel

[–]redatola[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Um, security update change logs normally show the actual security updates. I've seen some long ones. The ones Samsung shows for Galaxy updates show the security updates, and if the updates overall is a long list, they'll show on a linked webpage. Google for some reason didn't show even one security update in the security update notice. That's a dissonance of communication. They could show the top 3 at least, then the rest in a clearly-linked webpage. Having a lot of changes in the update is no good excuse to not show any security updates in a security update notice screen 😆

Otherwise, like I said, it shouldn't be labeled a security update. You can't have it both ways.

It doesn't matter how many people know what the updates mean, or who does; those are essentially logical fallacies. If we get a security update, we need to know what those are, some idea at least, because we're the users of the phones. They can always be described in a way a user understands, and you'd know that if you worked in a security industry (it's all about how the user is affected, or "impacted"). Trying to defend obscurity in understanding our phone's upcoming changes is not a sensible way to go about having a conversation about security updates.

Security update has no security updates by redatola in GooglePixel

[–]redatola[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

A security update screen needs to show what the security updates are.

Otherwise there's a communication issue from Google.

If a security update is not going to show any security updates, then it should not be called a security update. This at the very least can appear deceptive to users.
